WAG Geddert charged with human trafficking

My take is the trafficking refers to the fact that as coach, he was in a place of authority over the girls on his team. He sent them to Nassar, for injuries, for treatments. His overbearing control on the girls didn't allow them to say no. He had knowledge of what Nassar was doing - so in...

WAG Geddert charged with human trafficking

He has been on the banned list since he "retired" in 2018 and turned the gym over to his wife.

    Coaches and masks

I find it interesting how there are so many people concerned about what is going on in other gyms, other schools, other households. I was raised to have the serenity accept the things I cannot change (and that don't affect me); to have the courage to change the things I can (and that do affect...

    WAG More 6's, less 5's

My DD competed a whole season of Level 5 (and I'm grateful for it), then skipped 6- went right to 7. I think the compulsories (while boring for parents to watch - and listen to over and over and over lol) are important for teaching discipline and fundamentals and actually attempt to give...

WAG CaptainU? -- USAG recruiting website?

My gymnast is only 8th grade, but I signed up my older daughter a year ago when she entered her freshman year (softball and volleyball player) and get many "a coach has found you" emails, but as stated I can't see who they are without paying for an upgrade. I figured I would do that during...

    WAG Good Coaching Does Exist

My heart aches for all gymnasts who are coming out with their abuse stories. Such horrible experiences so many have endured...originating from a place of love - for they must have loved the sport or they could never have made it so far. So I want to ask for your positive stories. Lets let it...

WAG Emailing college coaches. Who all to CC?

Thank you - I was going to ask how soon she (my dd) should start sending them...!

    WAG Level 7...or 8

Thank you - good thoughts to consider...!

    WAG Level 7...or 8

:) I agree with moogacat. And with all the recent headlines, I really believe that a parent should not sit back and give all control to the coach - but be involved. Maybe I'm lucky, but our gym has great open communication with the parents. I definitely can't (and wouldn't) insist on a coach...

    WAG Level 7...or 8

"Does she seem to be at the same place as her teammates that already competed 7 and are training 8? Personally, I think vault is one of the biggest differences between 7 and 8. How is your daughter on a level 8 vault? Is she close to having a flipping vault yet? My daughter just finished level...

    WAG Level 7...or 8

LOL - I'm trying not to worry - in fact it's pretty exciting and she is thrilled with it. She is a flier and loves new challenges so the opportunity to work up to Level 8 skills has her pretty pumped. But its a mom's job to worry, right?? :)

    Day 1!

Thank you! I browsed for awhile yesterday and saw a lot of good threads and topics!

    WAG Level 7...or 8

My dd just finished Level 5. Her coach has put her in the group who has just completed Level 7 for summer training (the only one to move from her Level 5 team - and unusual for this coach to advance anyone quickly/skip levels...well except Level 6). We suspect that means she will either be at...

Parents Haven't posted in awhile...update on Lily's season so far

Fantastic!! It sounds like she has a promising future!

Parents Random question about Svetlana Boginskaya's height :-)

My 12yo gymnast is 5'4", long and lean, all arms and legs - and not done growing! I'm 5'7", dad is 6'4". She was the Level 4 state bar champion last year, and Level 5 state vault champ this year. She will be training Level 7/8 this summer...so the theory that tall girls won't advance well is...

WAG Cast Handstand Tower (uneven bar drill)

Cool idea - I just forwarded it to dd's coach! Thanks for sharing!

    Parents Diving?

My daughter - 6th grade - was "recruited" by her middle school's swim coach this year to join the dive team, because he knew she is a gymnast (JO Level 5). She did very well - lol, except against the school that had a Level 9 from her same gym on their team! She plans to do it again next year...

Just need a space to check myself!

Yup - the 4 hour practices take a toll on the waiting parent! I generally drop and dash - but try to get there for pick-up an hour early at least once every couple of weeks. I've been lucky that my daughter's teammate moms have been awesome and drama free...but if she moves up in the fall...
