Our gym has both rec classes and team practices during the summer. They take a couple weeks off but that is all. The girls that are going to get moved up usually move up then, so that they can start learning all the new routines during the summer.

My oldest dd is going to be 5 at the end of the month and started gymnastics when she was 2. She also does dance but that is it as far as sports/activities goes. I asked if she wanted to sign up for soccer or t ball but all she wants to do is gymnastics! Maybe that will change as she gets older...
28 hrs a week sounds excessive to me. I wonder if these girls actually have any time to just be kids and hang out with their friends and have fun. It sounds like their whole lives are run around gymnastics.
