Good points and I agree - this is her not "we". I really just don't know if if is time to let her quit. She seems to want to but I fear she will regret it.
It is just so upsetting. I hate to see it happen for her and I feel same - it's like the whole season has been a wash. She doesn't seem happy and I don 't want to make her keep doing gym but I keep hoping it'a phase. Just don't know.
My daughter is a level 7 gymnast, age 10. She was on track to be a level 8 last year but coaches decided to continue level 7 again to give her some added confidence. This season has been like watching someone else's child. Every week she has a new mental block. Two meets ago we were scoring 9.4...
Yes, it is comforting to know we are not along. It is just so frustrating for her and she doesn't understand why this is happening. I hope we can get through it and have her still want to continue with gym. It is becoming so stressful that I fear it may be more than she wants to keep doing. At...
My daughter is dealing with a similar issue - she is a level 7 and should have been on to level 8 two years ago but mental blocks have been an issue. She was doing everything well up until recently - timing terrible as it is meet season. Now she is not able to do her back handspring back layout...
My level 7 competitive gymnast is having a lot of trouble right now with mental blocks. She is on her 2nd year of level 7 and most of the skills she can do in her sleep but all the sudden she is now afraid to do back handspring back layout on floor without a spot. She will have a wonderful beam...
Is it possible to change gyms right before meet season? Will the new gym suggest gymnast simply train and sit this meet season out or can the gymnast compete given that choreography, etc is from the previous gym? How does this work?
Yea, I expect that if we were to let current gym know we were looking elsewhere, they'd want us gone. Very tricky. But I assume if we did a trial at the potential new gym, they would keep it confidential. That is what I am debating doing - at least giving my daughter a glimpse of what a...
I have been considering a change for my daughter. She is currently a level 7 and I feel that it might be best to move to another gym with more coaches and more level 7s and 8s. I feel she could excel further but she doesn't want to change. I think she is just comfortable with the girls she...
I too am struggling with a similar issue. My 10 year old level 7 gymnast is talented beyond belief but lately says she wants to quit gymnastics and instead do competitive cheer. All of her friends and cousins are in competitive cheer and everyone tells her how awesome she'd be. I hate to see her...
