Parents Daughter - 7 year old - No progress

I can see how it would be frustrating to feel like your daughter hadn't made any progress in a year. Has her form improved on the skills she does have? I don't think it would be the worst thing to check in with her coaches at some point and ask about how she is progressing and if the class...

    Parents Coach parent relationship

This is a great point. I could definitely see relationships changing as kids move up levels and get older and start to handle more of their own things.

    Parents Coach parent relationship

I am friendly with our coaches and we will chat about their kids, lives, etc. Sometimes conversation about progress comes up, but it’s just as likely we are talking about an upcoming vacation or something similar. I trust them teach my kid and know they’ll bring anything up I need to know.

Parents What Is Your IDEAL Team Program?

For me, I think that commute, communication, and uptraining are things that make the gym for me. Everything else is important as well, of course. But my daughter thrives on learning new skills, so she'd be bored at a gym that doesn't uptrain. And hours are less of an issue when the commute is...

Parents 13 yr old wants to quit

It sounds like a break may be what’s needed. It’s so hard to trust our kids’ judgment sometimes, but there are so many directions gymnasts can go in when considering other sports! I hope she finds something she loves.

Parents Travel: Flights Cancelled & Rising Costs (Time To Worry?)

We do not fly for meets yet, but I have also noticed hotel costs rising when we have needed hotel rooms for a meet. It definitely affects what meets we feel like we can attend.

Coaches Coaching ideas for teaching a child with autism

I agree with a visual schedule being helpful. Additionally, warning before transitions could be good. I wonder if there is a sensory component involved with vault and bars? Sensory processing disorder is something that often affects neurodivergent kids.

    Parents Best leo brands?

My daughter loves destira, but now I will be checking out gym gear! I’m also curious to know how the sizing is compared to Destira or GK.

This is the dismount level three does at our gym as well. Level 2 does a sole circle dismount.

WAG Coaches, what do you think of parents that watch the entire practice?

Mom here. I love watching my daughter. She was five when she started on team, and the change from one hour a week to six hours a week was big and we wanted to make sure she could handle it okay. Now she’s six in her second year, and typically I will drop in for the last 30-45 minutes. She’s...

    Parents Do you record meets?

I record every event, and most parents do at our gym. It came in handy at a meet when the judges missed something and requested a video to rescore the routine. Other than that, though, I like to be able to show my daughter her progress in each event over the course of a season.
