Sounds like everyone is doing well in the gym.
Congrats on the splits GeoffryTaucer. I only have my right split really good. My left one is almost there, and well , I don't even bother with the middle split b/c it would just be an awful sight:eek:.
I won't be back in the gym until Jan...
Can't wait to get back to the gym. I was off a week, then team girls had pictures so most of the equipment was blocked, then I worked another weekend and didn't get to go. I feel like I'm going to have to start over.
I only have 2. But that is b/c I have been out of the gym for 10+ years and now I'm a crazy "old person" trying to do gymnastics. Back in the day I had way too many to count.
My front tumbling experience is pretty much the same as yours. Front tuck- ROBHS, etc... was our front tumbling. We did have one girl that was scared to back tumble and worked alot on front tumbling but other than that, none. I have tried some on the tumble tramp, and I think repetition is...
No gym for me today. I'm stuck working the whole weekend :(
I agree about the tumble track, it's very hard to get a good block off of it. We never had one back in the day, we just did everything the old fashion way. I think that is another reason I find front elements so hard.
I am having trouble getting my kip back, and I think it's the waiting part. I'm impatient & I just want to be up on the bar. When I get back to the gym I'll try that out.
Hi,
I am an "old" gymnast getting back into the gym for fun & good exercise. I am having a hard time with what conditioning I can do either at the gym or home, besides good old fashioned crunches and push-ups. I was wondering what are some of your favorites you have your team members do for...
What conditioning are you doing? I am a slacker and can't bring myself to condition like I should. I know it would really help. I just don't know where to start.
I DID IT!
Standing BHS step out
ROBHS
ROBHS BHS
All on the floor
On tumble track I did a couple of FHS FT/FP & worked on front fulls, but could only get around 3/4.
I was so excited I forgot about the cartwheels on beam.
Most coaches kind of chuckled a little when I told them how old I was and what I wanted to do. Some suggested I try a health club instead with their lovely assortment of classes. Some did offer strictly tumbling classes, but I want to swing bars and attempt beam (if that's what you want to...
Yeah, I can do them on a line. I can do one on a floor beam too. Let's just say it's not the prettiest cartwheel ever.
Muscle- up, I used to hate those things. Great Job on that.
I'm just wondering how exactly does everyone work out? Do most of you take actually adult classes? I do open gym work outs because there is only 1 gym in my are that has actual adult classes and they are only once a week and I work a weird schedule. The gym I have found lets me come in on...
Nothing really big. But I did feel like I had better form in my BHS on tumble track. I felt like I was tighter in my back/mid section. Made for better, higher tucks and layouts. At least I think so.
Who inspired you to take up gymnastics? Not sure who in the beginning, I was just always in gymnastics.
What is your best event? Back then- floor, vault & bars were all about the same. Now- don't really have one.
What is your worst event? Beam used to be but I feel strangely drawn to it...
Hey Everyone,
I am actually a "retired" gymnast, but have recently found a gym that lets me workout on Saturdays. I'm a little to old to do what I used to do but it sure is fun.
Hey all,
My name is Sarah & I am a former gymnast. I have been "retired" for about 12 years. 2 months ago I found a gym that will come let me work out and not take classes, just work out by myself. I am loving it. Any advice from coaches or other adult (I don't like to think of myself as...
