While I am familiar with the rules and policies surrounding petitioning, is anyone familiar with the turnaround time?
I’m hoping to send in the petition by the end of the week. We have a potential move-up meet in a month, that I would like to use to score into 8, is it possible to get a...
First things first, is this job or volunteering?
Second, this sort of thing might be covered under ADA which protects against discrimination due to disability. I’m not a lawyer, so I can’t say if this counts, and I don’t think it would be worth pursuing.
Third, as a coach and a gymnast with...
Bars:
You need a clear hip that gets within 45 degrees of handstand.
You’ll also need to do a second clear hip and a flyaway
Beam:
You’ll need the same dance as in platinum (full turn, 155 split, dance series)
A salto/areial dismount
Floor:
You need a B salto, I.e a front pike, back half or...
I had an okay meet. Had big wobble on beam, but came out alright, I was struggling in warmup anyway. Floor was a bigger disappointment, I was sticking a landing in warmup, but took several steps in comp. Those’d tenths put me in fourth AA instead of third. Vault … was vault. And bars went amazing!
I don’t currently have access to a code, and I can’t remember this for the life of me. In Dev, the split angle in a backwalkover must be the required angle for leaps/jumps for that level. Does this apply to xcel as well?
I would say yes, we’d move you right up. We’d spend the summer working on that clear hip, a flight skill on beam (to have options), and just some other general upgrades and cleaning up.
A lot of hollow body holds with scissor legs or v-ups for a minute or so at a time can help. We have a our girls do conditioning like that while others do floor routines.
I’m about 90% sure that it’s just stress/overuse, it’s not constant, just when I’m active. If I didn’t have states in a week, I would. Thank you though.
Are there any particular ankle braces that you recommend? I’m dealing with more ankle pain than usual right now, and am looking for some support to help with the pain and prevent injury. Previously I’ve used pre-wrap and tape, but I don’t want to waste anymore.
The head coach/gym owner is often a floater coach, while the main coach is the senior most other coach, and is the one I have primarily. I apologize for the confusion.
I know I’m a little late, but if you don’t have a callous shaver, take a clean nail clipper and just take off the top of the callous. Put some lotion/aquafor on it over night and you should be good to go. Taking off that top layer prevents it from pulling up as much when she goes around the bar...
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Despite a thriving Xcel team making up over half the team, our head coach/gym owner seems to think we our ‘less than’ for being xcel. We our discouraged from attending states and regionals with high fees, given less of her attention, and given...
We do 2 hours, twice a week for bronze. Our silvers technically do 7 I believe, but many practice modified hours, up to level 3’s 9 hours. Our gym has a slightly strange mesh of 3s and silvers.
Practice as usual, with a little more focus on our shortfalls. When I have girls on beam the day after a meet, we do extra reps of the skills that they fell/had major issues on. If one event was a struggle for a whole level, we’ll try to get them there more often.
I started younger, and quit for around 4 years. Last year I was 14 and a gold. This year I’m a platinum, and 80% of the way to level 8.
The big thing for me when I came back was loving the sport. If I didn’t love it, it wasn’t worth it. I do that by focusing inward, it’s not about anyone else...
