Parents Is College Gym An Option?

Hi! I'm more of a lurker than a poster and I enjoy learning from you all! I have a question, but background info may be helpful. My daughter is a 13 year old level 9. Her story is a crazy one... She started level L4 at 6, L5 at 7, L6 at 8, "skipped" 7, L8 at 9 (regional qualifier, fell apart...

    Parents Hurt Toe/Foot

Hello! I don't post very often, but I read & learn a lot! Oh, and I'm really not a CGM, I picked the name before I knew what it meant ;) if there's a way to change it I'd love to! First meet of the season a week and a half ago my dd fell on her back tuck off the beam. She whacked the side of...

Does anyone know how to find out exactly which gymnasts will be at a stop? We are going to OKC in a couple weeks and my daughter and I would love to know. TIA!

    Practice before a meet?

What is 'normal' for practice before a meet? My DD is level 8, going to regionals on Sunday and coach says Thursday is the last day of practice. I will admit, I'm hard-core, and not happy about this. But is it normal?? Anything DD should do on her own the days before the meet? Stretch...

Parents Team Gifts for State Meet?

    Parents L5 Meet Report

I posted a couple weeks ago about a not-so-good meet. Thank goodness I can report that we had a great meet this weekend!! Vault-9 (1st) Bars-8.8 (2nd) Beam-8.825 (4th, and I think judges were scoring high!) Floor-9 (2nd) AA-1st! This is pretty consistent with how she's been placing this season...

    Parents DDs score went DOWN??

Hi there! :) I have rarely posted, but I really enjoy reading! I was wondering if I could get some input, please! My dd is first year level 5. Level 4 was rocky, but we decided to move up anyway. We've had 4 meets so far and in vault, floor, bars, and all around she's always placed 1st or 2nd...

Parents ?? Moving to Level 5

Our gym is starting to talk about who's moving up. The headcoach pulled me in and asked what I thought and told me that the choice was up to me as my dd could go either way-staying in level 4 or going to level 5. My dd is 7, just turned 7, and she is NOT as emotionally mature as the other girls...

Parents What kind of PRACTICE BEAM?

We're looking at getting DD a practice beam for home. Any advice on what kind to get? I was looking at the one that folds up, but thought that it wasn't up very high?? I would appreciate any input! THANK YOU :)

    Parents DD's 3rd Meet-and ??s (long)

I don't post a lot here, lurk, though. I'm so new to the world of gym, that it is all still a little overwhelming ;) DD is 6 (competes as 7) and a first year level 4. She LOVES gymnastics, LOVES her coach, and LOVES, LOVES, LOVES meets! BUT, she is consistantly scoring on the bottom end. I...

    Parents 2nd L4 Meet

My dd had her 2nd Level 4 meet today. She did do better than she has been :) BUT, she got confused on the floor and quit :( She walked off crying 1/2 way through. The judge was even going to let her do it again, but she wouldn't. She's 6, so I'm hoping it's her maturity level. What do...

What to eat before a meet?

DD has a meet at noon tomorrow. What should she eat?? Carbs tonight? What about tomorrow?? She loves eggs, so I was thinking that for a couple hours before (since that's when we need to leave), but I can't remember what she'll need and when (carbs/protein). THANK YOU :):)

    Parents Expectations...

Hi :) I'm a newbie (to gymnastics and to this forum), so I'm sure there will be lots of questions from me!! My dd is 6 (competes as 7) and in Level 4, this is her first year to compete. She has loved gym from the time she started at the age of 3. Starting at 4 1/2 she started 2-1...
