How do you get a Gymnastics Scholarship?

I still have about two years before I will be trying for NCAA. But, yesterday after failing horribly at most of my skills said a short prayer. Then threw my double full, and stuck it for the first time. God is good.

    your most embarrassing moment(s)

My first competition I bent one arm so badly on a back handspring and ended up doing the BHS on one hand and one elbow.

    Gymnasts With Injured Backs?

I currently have two bruised vertebrae, a bulging disk, and arthritis. My first doctor thought that it might be spodylolysis, I think that it is similar to pars. I'm out of practice and competition for at least another month. I can tell that physical therapy is helping. Good luck to you...

Injury - Out of practice for a few months

Over the past 11 months I have been going at my gymnastics training furiously. Every day I give all that I've got. The next day when I feel as if nothing is left, I go out and find something to give. Sadly, the past month and a half I have had to back off due to a pain that had developed in...

How long is your drive to the gym?

That's an incredible time to drive! How often do you go in?

Homework advice when training 25 hours a week?

It's hard. I have to work really hard to get all of my school work done in school or sometimes in the morning. My job is only on weekends though, so I just have to hussle back from the gym once a week to get to work on time. How far do you have to commute to each? Are you in HS or College?

    Upper Body Conditioning.

Strength training is my favorite part of gymnastics, especially ring strength. I'm considering making a video(my only fun activity besides gymnastics) of 'basic' strength exercises due to this thread. Best things I would say is do push-ups with hands elevated, rows with feet elevated...

How long is your drive to the gym?

From my house it is a 40 minute drive. Each way. And now with extra classes since I'm graduating a year early, tutoring elementary kids, church, and a new job, the drive it's self takes a lot of my time away. Good news though, once summer comes around, I'm moving into an apartment 4 miles...

How do you get a Gymnastics Scholarship?

You are absolutely right. It's very, very far fetched to say the least. I do have back up plans. My GPA and ACT scores will get me a pretty good chunk of cash to just about any college I want to go to. I appreciate your concern; however, I intend to ignore it. Good luck to your...

How do you get a Gymnastics Scholarship?

Wow. Thanks for the info. I am actually only a junior but will be graduating this year. Going to a community college near my gym so I can train more often. Right now I have to commute to practice(40 minutes each way). I have a lot of work to do if I want to be a level ten by next...

    Rips, as compared to life

So, in a spur of creativity in relation to a friend of mine, I was inspired to write this. It has everything to do with gymnastics, but at the same time, nothing at all. Here's my deep philosophical though of the year. The hands of a gymnast can be compared to life. They hit obstacles, get...

    rips!!!!!

Yep, the neosporin the first night is just to make sure you don't get an infection or anything, but in the process of healing I think the chapstick is the most important part. Be warned though, people look at you funny when you put chapstick on your hands. :p

    too late to begin?

I started recreational tumbling when I was sixteen. Started competitive gymnastics just before I turned seventeen. I was a level four for a couple of months, then decided not to compete for a while. In six months I have already started working on my level 8 routines. I will be competing...

    rips!!!!!

Here's what I do: Immediately after getting home from practice when I got the rips soak them in warm water with epsom salt for about 10 minutes.(this can burn a little if they were bloody) Then wash them off with cold water, pat dry and put some neosporin(or any other triple antibiotic) on...

    Full Twist

Hey all. Yesterday I got my full twist on trampoline! Now all that's left is to clean it up and make it consistent. Then try it on floor. Thanks again for your help.:)

    Front Hand Spring

This and bending my knees are my problems; however, my front handspring is coming along quite nicely now.

    Full Twist

Sounds good. I have been laying off from my full twist work because I injured my knee(nothing serious) when I messed up a full. But I'm feeling better now and will start again tomorrow. Thanks for all of the help. =]

    Girls Are Different Than Boys

I would agree that all of this is true. I also want to tell about my team. I am the oldest person on the team. But I've only been doing gymnastics for about half a year. However, being that I am (at least I think I am) the most dedicated person on my team, I am making the most progress...
