    Scoring

A few months ago my dd took part in a voluntary comp. She had a great comp went clean and did really well. She did not medal. After the comp she looked really disappointed, so I questioned her and the issue was that she knew and felt she did well and was disappointed not to have placed. We...

How many comps a year ?

Hello, how many comps do your gymmies compete in a year on average ?. DD did 6 last year, which seems a small amount compared to our US friends. Think there may be a few more this year. Was quite a nice number as seemed a good balance between training new skills and practising routines.

    UK Range and Conditioning

My dd competed UK National Grade 8 and passed woo hoo. The R & C was not the best, did not hold splits, and had to restart, very wobbly, passed just. My question is to those who have to take R & C is this an integral part of the gymnasts training, ie included in their normal program or is it...

One for the parents, skills you don't want to watch your child perform

Do you have a particular skill that you see in the gym and think to yourself I really don't want my child to do that skill ? I was watching a girl do a yurchenko vault last week, and it just looked to me to be the most unnatural thing in the world, and my instant thought was eek I don't want dd...

    flicks on beam

Hello I wonder if you lovely people can assist.... DD is learning flicks on beam, however her flick from standing is not looking good, so is learning back walkover, flick to one and tick tock flick to two. She needs the extra momentum. All the other girls in her group are doing standing...

    Parents Gymnastics Camps and Costs

My daughter is off to Easter Camp in a weeks time. This is held at her gym so she will be a non resident and will get a reduction in fees due to that. Camps do not seem to be popular here in the UK, however I notice from a lot of the threads that there are many in USA. I am curious as to how...

    calling UK coaches / gymnasts

Hi there My 8 year old currently trains 6 hours per week and is in pre-squad type class I think !!. The gym that she attends has a good program for the rec girls, that is they have awards to aim for and know what skills are required to obtain a pass, distinction, bronze etc. The elites are...
