Sorry to hear about your daughter - hope she is better soon. Also, sorry the comments and replies upset you - I don't generally post much, but I like to read others thoughts. I don't think anybody meant anything they posted as a personal attack on you or your daughter or necessarily her gym...
Hi everybody - haven't been on in awhile. After a summer of struggles and thoughts of quitting dd had her first level 7 meet yesterday. She was expecting low scores as she hasn't mastered some of her skills - namely she doesn't have her flip flop on the beam and her giants on the bars. But...
We got summer schedule this week - level 7 does Monday and Wednesday 8-1 and Tuesday and Thursday 12-4, with an hour of dance on Tuesday. Hard for working families, but they are offering camp from 8-4 everyday so that helps.
I still think it is wrong. The parents of the other girls should be doing something to teach their daughters proper team behavior. If I was one of those parents I would not send my daughter to the celebration. I would have my own and invite your daughter!
I hope my dd one day figures the vault out. She too has changed best events - at level 4 she hated beam and bars were her best event, then as a level 6 she struggled last season with bars, but did well on beam. She will repeat level 6 this year - her bars have improved greatly and she trained...
My dd does dance as well - this year she will miss 3 hours of 13 hours, but the coaches have said she can come in earlier one day a week which will add back 1.5 hours, so she will be missing 1.5 hours of gymnastics. She will do 11.5 / week and 6 hours of dance. She is going to be competing...
That is so insightful - I wish my dd would relax and do what she does at practice in the meet, her scores would be much improved. Congrats to your daughter!
Happy to be able to say that dd did not quit after our last meet and we were able to compete at Chicago Style on Friday. DD got her highest AA score so far as a level 6 (32.825 - not quite the 33 she was hoping for but so close).
She was on vault first - score 8.25, still can't seem to get...
I hope she is alright. My dd fractured her elbow a year ago when she fell off the high bar. She cried at first but then she wanted to go to dance and at least watch, so we all thought it was alright. She got up in the morning and said it was sore, but she went to school and to dance company...
Thanks - I'm sure the coaches didn't intend to be so hard on her, but your exactly right about the age and not being able to express her feelings. As soon as she left the floor she was standing in front of all three coaches who were sitting on the floor looking up at her telling her what she...
Thanks again - she has only been in gymnastics 4 years - she competed half a season as a level 4, did level 5 last year and is now doing level 6. As I may have mentioned she is sometimes oversensitive, but it seems like the coaches would recognize this and adjust how the pass on messages to...
