Well, a long time later I am finally able to reply. I've officially been benched- no heavy spotting at all, very little spotting period. It's given me an interesting perspective of their routines and things to clean up. And I have to behave as my doctors DD is one of my team girls. :-) I think...
I bought it... It's basically the compulsory routine book (routine, pictures, deductions) and it has the videos included for each level. I like it better than the book as pages can't be torn, etc. and it is one purchase that will cover the 8 years...
So, as you can guess from the title I'm expecting my first in April of next year. I'm 11 weeks as of now and am just looking for advice on what other coaches did while pregnant.
I'm the gymnastics director/head team coach in our gym, so I wear a lot of hats. We're a new program (4 years old)...
We're doing our first meet in December because the girls are just not ready... If we went they'd be getting 7s and low 8s because of forgetting, not polished, etc. we also have the opportunity for spring state and our lower levels compete AAU who's state is in spring anyway.
Sent from my iPad...
I cannot take credit for this... Got it from congress. My gymnasts all have a file folder with conditioning sheets in it with different skills listed for arms, core, and legs. I tell them which skill we're doing and we do it for 30 seconds. They then have to write down their number (I don't ask...
We do host meets that are USAG sanctioned but we are a new gym and only have new 6s right now as our highest level. However, if we were to host a meet this year, are soft rails a requirement to get the sanction for compulsory meets or lower level optionals (like L7/8)? I guess that is the...
I'm not sure myself because I'm trying to figure out the same thing! We're still working front handsprings though and no matter what I tried she hit the back of the board. I even attempted moving the springboard a little. So I'm curious as to what others have to say also.
The thing with fear is there is really no explaining it away. Have you asked her to sit down and tell you what scares her about it? I know sometimes younger ones can't put it into words, but sometimes they can. The only way I've found to help move through fear is to back up in the progressions...
Wow... Sorry. Didn't mean to offend by making a single mistake. Just trying to make sure my gym is legal and I don't need to be saving up to buy the new rails immediately. I didn't realize that people weren't allowed to make mistakes. Thank you for the answer though.
I'm the coach and sizing time is my least favorite time of year! I'm always afraid of what y'all are stating- that I will order a size too small for a girl by the end of the year. Last time, we did not get sizes and that was a mistake! Being able to put them in a Leo and see the fit makes all...
I have recently been approached by parents who want to put their kiddos in gymnastics. One has moderate autism and another has a handful of physical disabilities. I was just wanting to put some feelers out there asking what other gyms do with different ability kiddos. Do you try to mainstream or...
I have the same issue of being a hopeless righty coach! Luckily, I have a phenom lefty who I spent all the extra minutes looking at the book with her and reversing all the moves when she came in for a private and she now knows it by heart and loves teaching the other lefties and being my leader...
In Xcel/prep op this past season, many of my girls chose "popular" music as this was their first time getting to pick music. We only had one girl have her same music played and it was a different division and different rotation. This was also at AAU Nationals with 1400 gymnasts there... So I...

That being said, there may be another reason that the coach is keeping her in silver... But I guess in my...
