Parents My dd may quit gymnastics

I am really sorry to hear your dd frustration. I have no words of wisdom. Did you tell your coach the level of frustration your dd is feeling? Did you mention she was considering quiting? As you know I have alot of experience with this particular problem. (My dd was told there was no chance for...

    Starting gym Again

My dd also took off for about 6 months last year. she is young though(she just turned 9) so she didn't have tons of skills or strength yet but she still had to take it one day at a time. She has been back at it for 6 months now and is starting to add new skills this month. At 3 months she had 80...

How do you foster a good relationship w coach

Thanks for all the great advise. I have opted to show my trust in the coach by leaving her and to wait a little while before asking about a private lesson. I am leaving the gym about 15 min. into the class and coming back for the last 30 min or so and having had my dh and my mom take her a few...

She will get to do some compeitions in the USAICG forum, they don't start until Dec. sometime. Good luck to your DD at her meet. I'm looking forward to updates on how it goes.

Parents I just have to say yeah!!

My dd has switched classes at her new gym. They moved her with the jr. team (which is still kind of the same level but with girls more her age and older). She was with the same coach she has had for the last month just with different girls and the class moved alot faster because the girls are...

    Pain tolerance!

Sorry I went all crazy mom on you! I just don't want to see anyone getting hurt because they push to hard. I see you are safe and am sorry about all the drama. That opening statement was a little scary for a mom to read.;););)

    Coach

Hi, welcome! I am a parent of 2 gym dds. It's always good to have more coaches to hear from.

Parents Stay at gym or leave?

This is a very confusing thread for me. I am of the mind that I am being supportive by staying. I don't try to coach my dd and she rarely looks over at me, but I get to watch her. Seating is not an issue because there is only one class at the same time as my dd's team practice and there are like...

    Pain tolerance!

This is kind of a scary thing to say. Why are you feeling pain? Are you doing too much in a short period of time? Maybe you should just relax a little and let it come. You seem very excited to be doing gymnastics and it may feel like you need to catch up, but it's not that kind of sport. Your...

How do you foster a good relationship w coach

Thanks, I think you are understanding the feeling behind my question. I was looking more for a 1 on 1 time for my dd to get to know the coach better and for the coach to get to know her better. I don't think she needs to work on and perticular skills or even show off what skills she has. I was...

How do you foster a good relationship w coach

I definatly think it was because I asked questions and stayed to watch. The owner said almost that when she asked me not to return. I was quite shocked and upset so I don't recall the conversation completely word for word. I admit I was a little more inquisitive of her because I had a bad...

    Parents Replacement coach

I just want to say how sorry I am you and your dd are having so many issues with your gym at the same time. I have no easy answer or magic wand, but wanted to tell you I know the feeling. I hope it works out for you and your dd. I wish we had owners like the ones here at the chalk bucket(They...

How do you foster a good relationship w coach

See how nieve I am. And why my judgement is off. I never had that kind of open relationship with any coach my dd has had. Its been more like the coach/ owner saying "please give me the money and I do what I can with your dd." And me saying "OK here is my life savings, and I'll just sell a kidney...

    Off Topic diving boards

Our highschools in this area do not offer gymnastics so alot of our gymnasts do diving in highschool. It seems a little less strenous on the body, but still as challenging. Keep having fun.:)
