    WAG Choreographers

Our level 7 girls use an in-house choreographer and get their music from any floor music company - our level 8-10 girls have a special (awesome) choreographer who is also a judge come in, she brings original music with her for the girls to choose from that isn't available elsewhere.

    Parents Elbow dislocated with fracture

My kiddo a then L7 over-rotated on a back tuck on tramp, bailed, put her arm out and did the same thing almost two years ago. They popped her elbow back into place in the ER & she had surgery a week later to re-attach the medial epichondryle with a screw. She only missed gym the actual day of...

Parents Watching practice- a no no?

LOL!!!! YES!!! I don't watch often because it's a 4 hour workout, waaaaayyy too long to sit and deal with the stuff mentioned above PLUS she's starting to do things that, quite frankly, scare the bejeezus out of me so it's probably best for my cardiac health that I just not be there ;-)

Parents Is it too late to dream about College?

Yes, our college recruitment advisor told us that Acro-Tumbling is getting bigger by the day with DivI schools and they are offering full rides for their teams just like artistic girls. She said you only have to be a level 8 to be eligible for those teams. I have no clue what Acro-Tumbling is...

    WAG L7 Floor Deduction question

Thanks, everyone, for the input! :-) I was pretty sure it was more likely a combination of smaller things than that (and couldn't possibly believe that little stumble counted as a fall).

    Parents Questions to ask

Sorry - accidentally hit enter before I was done lol! This alone would concern me as a parent - not to mention the "only moving up as a group" part. You should have access to your daughters coach - via text, email or in-person (either arranged in advance or before/after class). My daughter's...

    WAG L7 Floor Deduction question

Quick question.... Does a small stumble coming out of a tumbling pass count as a fall?? My dd said they counted the small stumble after her second tumbling pass as a fall. She got a 9.450 as it was but she was bummed thinking it would have been a half point higher had that not counted as a...

    Parents Injury Update

Elbows are crazy! Mine had a dislocation/surgery about 19 mos ago & is still having issues even though all xrays show everything is perfect. I would definitely get a couple of other opinions before leaving it as issues can arise later on (my kiddos did & now we're going to specialists to see...

WAG Question about when the levels changed.

Love the term "Great Level Shift" lol!! Oh, my... I remember it well.... my kiddo repeated old level 4 and then moved to old 5 the year it became 4 so she always jokes that she spent three years in level 4 lol! Our gym does not, as a rule, do new level 6 - but my kiddo was the first (and...

    Parents Gym Tuition Cost

$455 per month for 18 hours per week - but that does not include the $100 per week in private lessons plus booster club fees (so in the six months or so prior to meet season I'm shelling out close to a grand per month)

    Parents Close but no cigar

That's the worst :-( So sorry, but glad she's taking it well. If it were my kiddo I would just point her in the direction of next season & have her keep working hard and she'll make it next year! :-)

Parents Some Parents need to find their filter

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words - we are definitely proud of her. Unfortunately it seems as though this happens everywhere which is a very sad commentary on society when there are so many parents who just spew from their mouths everything that enters their brain without a care for who...

Parents Some Parents need to find their filter

Just wanted to vent for a moment while I gently remind all the parents out there that when they're packing their camera, snacks and other miscellaneous items to take with them to a meet that they should also remember to pack the filter that goes between their brain and their mouth. Last night...

I will have her start doing her PT exercises again - thanks!!!

WAG elbow dislocation/surgery & continuing pain

I agree, the lack of straightness is probably contributing to the issue - she was in a tension splint for a good month & when in it she could zero out the elbow, but the problem is that the other arm hyper- straightens so she would never be able to get the injured elbow like the other.

WAG elbow dislocation/surgery & continuing pain

Originally, the doctor told her she wouldn't need a brace, but with the recent pain, she's been using a light support one (sleeve with wraps in both directions) - she says it doesn't seem to help any :( I emailed the Dr last night to see if he could get her in, so hopefully we can see what he...

WAG elbow dislocation/surgery & continuing pain

The elbow never straightened to "0", it's probably at 5degrees, which is made worse by the fact that the other arm hyper-extends to probably -10degrees so there's a big difference between the two & she had to learn to do many skills all over again to accommodate the different length arms. At...

WAG elbow dislocation/surgery & continuing pain

I know there have been several threads about elbow dislocation and associated surgery to reattach the medial epicondyle. I've responded to one with my kiddo's story & it's pretty typical (over-rotation of back tuck on tramp - put arm out when bailing - dislocation of elbow w/ surrgery to...
