    Value of Kovacs and Coleman?

Could anyone tell me what Kovacs and Coleman are worth in the MAG code of points? Thanks.

Mixed-Age Groups Learning vs. Social Aspects - benefits and pitfalls

I was never in competitive, but I have experienced this issue from both sides in rec and advanced rec programs. As an 8 year old in rec, I was at a much higher level than the other kids in the 6-9 age group, so I was put in a group with mostly 10-11 year olds and I loved it. The 10-11 year...

    Men's Vault Difficulty Scores

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what vault(s) have 6.2 difficulty score in the Men's FIG Code of Points. Thanks.

    front and back walkovers help

Keep practicing your bridge kickover and try to get it on the flat floor. Once you can do a kickover on the floor it becomes just a matter of getting used to doing the whole skill as one fluid motion and a coach can help you with that. For the front walkover practicing it down an incline or...

    Kicking your coach

I don't think I've ever kicked a coach but I have hit coaches with my hands. Most recently it was while trying to do a back tuck. I've also been hit while coaching. Usually I get hit while spotting "skin-the-cat" on bars and a kid will let go with one hand too early (I coach preschool/young...

    Trapeze

I was a kid I went to circus day camp for a few years and they also had a flying trapeze camp at the same place but I was always too young to do it and then I started going to month-long sleepover camp. I always wished I could have tried the flying trapeze.

    rips!!!!!

I once got a rip the weekend before a competition and I didn't do anything for it right away, and so it was still really bad a day or two before the meet. My coach recommended I put a hot tea bag on it and it worked so well that I didn't even need to tape it at the competition.

What Injuries Have You/Your Child Experienced From this Sport?

I've been pretty lucky in that I've never had any serious injuries, just a bunch of random minor ones. - Twisted ankles more times than I can count - Sprained toe from vaulting - "Badly banged" little toe when I stubbed it on the edge of the trampoline immidiately after doing a front layout...

    3 Fingered Grip for Girls?

There was once a girl in the same group as me who had just transfered from another gym and she had 3 fingered grips without dowels, but this was only interclub (equivalent of USAG level 4/5ish). It was definitely not the same gym (different province), but maybe this is something similar.

Off Topic A rant about the weather

You Americans and your snow days:p. They would never cancel school over a foot of snow here. I've only ever had three snow days in my entire life. Once when I was 3 (my nursery school got canceled, as did my older sister's school, but I don't remember any of it), another was when I was in...

Off Topic A rant about the weather

While I was writing the first post the temperature was in the process of dropping from about +5C to about -20C in only a few hours. The only time I was seriously worried about slipping was that night because it was already well below freezing and there had been no sun to shrink the ice and no...

Off Topic A rant about the weather

It was already frozen by the time I had to go out again this evening, only a couple hours after it had stopped raining. I didn't fall (or even come close), but I think I'll be avoiding steepish hills for the time being. There's a hill that I often walk down that I've already fallen on once...

Off Topic A rant about the weather

This is why I hate it when it gets warm in February! (My definition of warm in February is anything above 0C/32F aka the freezing point of water.) Today where I live in southern Ontario (Canada, across from upstate New York) it has been absolutely pouring cats and dogs all day. I was out for...

    Back Tuck!!!

Thanks! They are fun. I never expected to be doing them by myself that day. I especially didn't expect it after the coach told me that he wouldn't spot me until I showed him a decent pullover (back-drop flip over to feet) which I had had briefly in the fall before I tweaked my shoulder doing...

    Back Tuck!!!

So I've joined the trampoline club at my university after being in rec level artistic gymnastics since I was 5. Anyways, last night for the first time in about 1.5 years I was doing back tucks!! I've had them periodically over the years but never for long and never this good. Last time I did...

Calling all coaches, parents, gymnasts, etc...

One thing that worked really well for me once was putting a hot tea bag on the rip. I had ripped 3 times in the same spot the weekend before a competition, and was still bad at practice two days before the competition. My coach suggested the tea bag and by the time the competition rolled...

    Adult gymnastics survey

Who inspired you to take up gymnastics? My mom put me in it when I was little as just another activity for me to do like skating lessons or swimming lessons, and gymnastics just stuck. What is your best event? The last time I competed I placed best on beam (with a rolls only routine)...

    Snow Day

I wish we had enough snow to have a snow day. Here in Southern Ontario (close to the Great Lakes so that there is the moderating effect) we haven't had any snow that has stayed on the ground for more than a day, and even that was only a tiny bit. I wish it would cool off another couple of...

Coaches What's the average wage everyone gets?

I'm not currently coaching because I'm concentrating on university right now, but when I was coaching in the spring I got $9 (Canadian) for coaching girls rec. It had been $8, but then minimum wage went up to $8.75. I'm 19 years old and am a fully certified Level 1 Artistic and Trampoline...
