    Am I to competitive?

Yes, I'd consider that very competitive, but that's not necessarily a bad thing! Competition is what drives us to do better! So keep your competitiveness, just as long as it doesn't get in the way of your sportsmanship!

I lost my back handspring but can't seem to get it back in the right form.

Have a teammate or coach stand behind you to catch you. Stand in front of them in a small squat (as if you're sitting down). Lean backwards (keeping your back straight) and right before you start to lose your balance swing your arm up past your head strongly (this is where you would need someone...

    Question about my grips?

I'd think that they'd still be fine to wear, but yes, the smell if probably from the sweat (and possible blood). Not sure if you can wash grips? Is it the actual grips, or just the wristbands? I do wash my wristbands every once in a while

    Rips

For preventing mine I always tape up my hands before I do bars (usually with something slightly thicker than prewrap, like paper towels, under the tape)....it wastes a lot of tape but it does help. For healing mine, before I go to bed I put a little Preparation H on my rips, cover my hand with...

What do YOU do to keep your spirits up?

Hi all, It seems like every time I start getting really into gymnastics and start gaining skills, I injure myself, and when I come back from my injury, I just hurt myself again.....Yeah it gets a little frustrating. I was just wondering what everyone else does when they start get down or...

    Blood Blister

Right before you go to sleep, rub a little Preparation H on it then put a clean white sock over it and go to bed like that. It'll sting but it works reeeally well on rips and blisters

    Fear of falling from beam

There's not much you can do except to build up confidence by repetition. Just keep in mind that, to a certain extent, there will always be a little fear.

    Help! beam handstand trouble

Have your coach spot you. Then once you're comfortable with that have your coach keep his/her hands there as if to spot you without actually touching you. Then you can have your coach stand a short distance away if you still feel nervous.

    back handspring

Think of sitting down in a chair and falling backwards (so sort of squat and lean backwards, if that makes any sense at all lol) and it will help you get back into the habit of going backwards
