    WAG College Gymnastics

Use your academics to get you into the school and get you the scholarship, and talk to the coach about looking at you as a walk on.

    Parents mid-gym crisis

I feel your pain. I think that every parent of a gymnast has faced a similar crisis! I often wonder what our family life would have been like if "we" didn't do gymnastics. We even bought homes in the the new cities we were stationed in based on the drive to the gym! I have 2 dds that have done...

    Parents Biggest size grips?

Never fear ladies...There is a gymnast on my dd D1 college team that is 5' 9" and her best event is BARS!

    Parents Always late to practice

In my dd's 12 years of school she only attended 1st grade for a full day. She was an optional in 2nd grade so she practiced with the older girls. She excelled at school and managed a 4.0 until her Jr. year, then it was a 3.9(darn calculus!) Leaving school early did not reflect in her education...

    Parents Strange hair question

This was exactly how we did it for many years...right down to the Aqua Net! DD was so used to the smell of aqua net she had to use it as part of her pre meet rituals! The only thing we did different was braid the pony tail and then twist it around. I never had to use pins though...just extra...

WAG Music ideas for 7 year old moving to optionals.

I have always liked this one. My dd was a dramatic gymnasts and I thought this would be good but it never worked out timing wise.

WAG Which way do we go?

let us be honest...If you didn't think "is this for real" or in my case (rolling of eyes) "not another one" you probably are also new to the sport. Newbies come to this board with questions and want our experience and knowledge. Sometimes you can't keep the ALL sarcasm from our posts. You take...

WAG Which way do we go?

Don't be down...we all have been around this sport for a lot of years and we may be a little jaded! Honestly we have seen or heard more in our collective gymnastics lives that you can imagine! In order to take advantage of our experience and adivce....you may have to put up with a little tough...

WAG Which way do we go?

3 problems with your daughter being nationally ranked....injury, body type and BOYS! You have no idea at this point which, if not all 3, will interfere with her future. Find a new gym, have NO expectations of the national team, and enjoy the journey. Could haves, would haves just steal your joy...

    WAG Elite Track Necessary?

Be careful taking her to another gym to be evaluated! Coaches can be very touchy about this for good reason. I would have a honest conversation (even if it is not what you want to hear) with the current coaches before going to another gym. It is a SMALL world in gymnastics.

WAG Lower back pain and a freaking-out gymnast

Here is a good news side...About the same age my dd was having back issues similar to yours. In her case, after x-rays and MRI they just realized that she has VERY strong muscles in her lower back and that if she didn't stretch very well she would tweak them pretty easily. She has to think about...

Parents Unbearably itchy comp leo. any advice

I would think a good seamstress would be able to add a liner to the sleeves without too much effort.

Parents Another thread about fears, puberty and how to know if your kid is done...

I wonder if the deadlines that they gave her is causing the stress? My dd gym did this and I understand the reasons for it but I think for some kids it has the opposite effect. Take the pressure off. My oldest dd wanted to quit when we moved into a new region and she knew it was one of the...

WAG Skills practise (at home) for 4 year old gymnast

Dancing. I think at that age I would have encouraged my older dd to dance her little heart out. It teaches them body awareness and just how to be free. My older dd was a stiff dancer until she finally became comfortable with dancing when she was a sophomore in high school. My younger dd would...

    WAG 8th grade Verbal recruit

GAgymmom...I just read the link you posted. I find that this quote was in the article quite funny. Most of the NCAA coaches are not happy with this early recruiting trend, but they have to go along with it or miss out. Greg Marsden, head coach of Utah, in an interview for the Salt Lake Tribune...

    WAG 8th grade Verbal recruit

That is not bashing it is fact. What you don't seem to understand is that many people that are responding here have ALREADY been through the process and are offering very real possibilities of problems with early recruiting. This girl is the tangible example of all of these possibilities. We...

    WAG 8th grade Verbal recruit

We still don't have any idea if it is scholarship or just a commitment. I can't see her web site my computer blocks it as untrustworthy, does it say scholarship? Maybe she is going there with the possibility of a scholarship if she continues to improve but a guaranteed walk on? There is a...

    WAG 8th grade Verbal recruit

If her gym doesn't do the elite thing, why is one of her videos labeled developmental camp? I would guess it is a submission video to Marta? I have known more then one elite gymnast that finds it hard to do high school courses and train elite.... It seems to me there are a lot of "ifs" in this...

    WAG 8th grade Verbal recruit

I honestly don't think that the Marsdens are LDS. I don't think that it is a church connection...now if it was BYU I would say definitely. I also wonder if it is commitment for a scholarship? Unless I missed something I saw no mention of a scholarship offer. I haven't checked gymdivas yet. It...
