We have gone once, and ended competing with teams near where we live, which was kind of a bummer. We had a great time though overall, I mean, it's Disney. We are a family of 5, so regular hotel rooms are a tight squeeze. The last time we were there we stay at Orange Lake Resort. I do not...
Our meet is just a 2 day meet, so we do not necessarily need 2. I think the BC members were just trying to avoid one person having to be there all weekend. Thank you for the quick response, it was VERY helpful!!
Hello all! I was wondering, as I do not see it in any of the Meet Director's Rules, can you have 2 Meet Director's at a sanctioned meet? The meet's I have always worked has had only one, but our current Booster Club was thinking that having 2 would be easier so the duties & working multiple...
I also use Audacity and it works well for me. You can zoom in to see the bars for every note, which helps in being more precise. I have cut my daughter's floor music & other gymnast's music and have found it to be easy. I may try the others too just to get a comparison.
My DD is a level 8. We pay $325 / per month for 20 hours a week, our gym does not do fundraiser, so our Booster Club quota for this season was $1700 and it was broken over 3 months. It nearly killed us to come up with $825 for 3 months straight.
We had a local gal do our choreography, ended...
Update: Our meet is going better now. Our Meet Director is now in charge of figuring equipment, sessions, anything to do with the floor and all other areas are now being organized by myself and two other mom's. We know at least "back of house" will run smoothly.
It really depends on when your daughter started, how she has aquired skills, and the developmental program at your gym. My daughter started at age was 3, was picked out at age 4 to start training TOPs, and has skipped levels 4 & 6. She is now 11 competing at level 8. She did repeat level 7...
I tried explaining judges get "better" food and we kept them separate so there was no influencing the judges, but I was ignored. I am just going to sit back and & work my shift, stay out of the details.
Hello all! My daughter is at a new gym who is hosting their first meet ever next month. At our old gym I was in charge of hospitality, and we held about 5 meets each year. Question: Is it a requirement to have the coaches & judges separated for meals at meets? Every meet we have hosted &...
This is my 9 year old DD's schedule:
School - leaves the house at 6:50 and gets off the bus at 2:45, unless I pick her up (which I do on Wednesday's)
Monday - Gymnastics 3:30-7:15
Tuesday - Gymnastics 3:30-7:15
Wednesday - Gymnastics 3:15 - 4:45, private ballet 5:00 - 6:00
Thursday - Gymnastics...
Similar thing happened to my DD. I took her to the orthopedist & he did x-rays to make sure she did not fracture her back. Basically she pulled the muscles in her lower back & up her spine. She did physical therapy for 6 weeks, and still continues to work on her exercises at home. If it is...
Glad your DD got her kip back! My DD is training Level 7, is 9 years old, and hates grips. She tried them for a couple of weeks just on tap swings & could not stand them. She still does not wear grips and does fine on her giants, free hips, etc. Her hands are small, and her coach said he...
Our coach emailed Monday & we found out Tuesday. Since everyone is at the Visa Championships you will probably have to wait until next week. Good luck!!
When our girls get to that level, they are home-schooled. We have 4 girls who train 6 days a week mornings & one evening a week as well (they are 10, 11, and 13). My DD was told she may need to be home-schooled by midyear, she's 9 years old, training level 7. Our schools here will not work...
We were not told how many girls particpated, but I am curious. I can ask our gym owner tomorrow if she knows. We found out this past Monday the results. Our coach asked the gym owner Monday to email USAG to get the results because we knew with the Visa Championships everyone would be too busy...
We got our scores yesterday, so everyone's should be in. We compared with last years scores and were off. I think there are more talented girls this year. My DD made it with 2 qualifying scores, she is ecstatic. Good luck to you!!
DD made it to TOPs testing in Texas. She is so excited and we are so proud of her!! She had a chance last year, or so we thought, before she fractured her elbow at the beginning of testing season, so this is even more joyful. Just had to share!!! :D
This year our gym will not have any level 6's because there are not any girls ready to compete 6 (maybe in the spring there will be a Lvl 6 team). Any way, my DD competed Lvl 5 last year and will do one meet to mobilize out of Lvl 6 (yes they have to learn the Lvl 6 routines but technically...
