They go by the numbers, how many platinums are in the state meet, and how many platinums are in all Region 8 state meets. Then they assign each state a number of slots according to the number of platinums in their state; that's where the percentage comes in. A state with a lot of platinums gets...
It's never the average of both vaults, it's the best one. The judges' 2 scores are averaged, but not the 2 vault scores together. Not AAU, USAG, or NGA.
I’m confused by your question. There’s no bonus in Xcel. They dont earn points by doing a higher skill. In many cases it is detrimental to their score. Can you elaborate on what you’re asking?
my daughter recently made a switch because of several reasons, but one of the big ones was friends. The group she was in was mostly new-to-the-gym girls, much younger than her and very cliquish. She begged me for the switch, and I agonized over it for weeks. I finally relented and after just 1...
Often parents see their kid doing higher level skills than their level, and think, "She's more advanced that her level, why isn't she skipping up?" Often a gymnast can throw lots of higher skills, but they have to learn to perfect the skills in their routines. She may be able to do a back tuck...
Competing in shorts is allowed, and it's not something that judges even think about while judging. There is no judge I know that cares if a gymnast is wearing shorts or not, so it really won't draw any different attention or response. Gyms really can't forbid it, because it is now in the Rules...
So, my DD's gym has been competing Levels 1-2 (along with all the other levels)for years. Those levels are actually very competitive in our state. Our girls even get the same uniform as every other level (although if it were me picking, I'd go with tank Leos). Any way, my oldest started in old...
No, the gymnasts are equally competitive. It's just that in AAU some deductions cam't be taken that must be taken in USAG, and a few other judging criteria are different which makes it a little easier to score higher than USAG. But at least in our state, AAU is highly competitive and taken...
I enjoyed them! They were fresh, and smiling, and talented and fun to watch. You could see the nerves taking over some of them, but overall it was very good. And the YT coverage was pretty good too. Our gym's gymnast did pretty great, too, so that made it even more fun to watch.
NBC coverage is what I'm mad about, why are you coming at me? We who don't have those things to watch international feeds have to put up with NBC's horrible coverage. YT did a great job, they showed just about everyone as far as I could tell. And hardly any fluff or following girls around who...
So this red-head gymnast....we never saw her do a routine. Only sitting in a chair or standing next to Simone. I'm calling NBC tomorrow, they need to stop just showing only 5-6 gymnasts. (Yes it was a great vault. We saw it about 8 times btw, from every angle and every speed).
So jealous. NBC is the WORST when it comes to gymnastics coverage. They still have not grasped that there are other athletes that we would like to see competing. I think they need to rename it the Simone Biles Classic, because that is pretty much all we saw. Yes, she's great, yes. she's making a...
