I am wondering if anyone can give me any information about level 6. My daughter will be a new level 6this year, and I have heard from many people that level 6 is very difficult. I have been told that judging is very tough for level 6. Anyone have a similar experience? Just wondering what the...
Actually, it would...and our gym has done that...this year we had several level 5 girls that were having difficulty with the two backhandsprings. Instead of having a spot for them second one, they just did one BHS and took the deduction for not having a second. That way, there was no deduction...
my DD started gymnastics when she was just 10...she did rec for a couple of months then was invited into our team program as a level 5. She didn't have all of her level 5 skills at the time but worked with them and they quickly developed. The kip is tough, but keep it light and just remind her...
Does anyone know what the deduction is for a coach being on the floor during a level 6 routine? What about if the coach actually does spot while being on the floor...is there an additional deduction for that? We are in Pennsylvania...I don't know if that makes a difference or...
My daughter had a similar experience when she started at her gym. My daughter came late to gymnastics (9 yrs old) and when she started she was put directly with level 5 girls. She needed a lot of work for sure, but her coaches felt it was the right place for her.
There was a girl in her...
I never comment on my dd's practices..good or bad...the only question I ask after question is if she had fun. If that answer is ever "no" then I am concerned...
My dd is struggling with split/straddle jumps. She doesn't get up into a full split when she does a split jump on beam, and her straddle jumps need some improvement. Any suggestions? She was doing them on her tramp with leg weights, but it is getting colder and that isn't an option any...
My dd is new to gymnastics (only one year now)....There are times when I see her practice that I think....wow, she is really doing well, then other times I think her practices don't go as well. Is this unusual? Don't get me wrong, I am VERY proud of my daughter's work and dedication. I am...
That was only our first meet...I'm not sure how many meets to go. She has one 12/18, and then there are 2 or 3 in January for sure. I have heard from the other parents that this meet coming up on the 18th is a "tough meet". Being new, I'm not sure what that means. I thought (maybe...
I was just wondering if anyone can tell me what AA score is required for sectionals in Pennsylvania for level 5. My daughter is new to gymnastics and just finished her first meet EVER with an AA score of 30.95. thanks to all!!:)
It's about a 40 minute drive each way....But I can say that we have a gymnast in our gym that drives about an hour and 50 minutes each way. It can be tough, but it teaches time management to say the least :D
Like I've said...we are fairly new in the world of gymnastics. I was a gymnast myself, and had waited and waited for a child that loved the sport as I did... FINALLY, child #3 comes along and has deep love for the sport - although she did start late - 9 years old. I learned my lesson the hard...
Well, my daughter did try a class tonight...It was a hip hop class, and while that may not have been my first choice, that was the only class available until new enrollment in January.. She actually loved it, and it seems like a good way to teach your body to move in a completely different...
My dd is new to gymnastics (level 5) and her gym is fairly relaxed. I actually really like that for her. My gym is not even concerned with scores until our girls hit level 8 (per the coaches). Having said that our upper level girls do very well, and infact many go on to college gymnastics and...
I totally agree...my daughter is fairly new to gymnastics (one year in the sport). I was at the gym one day, and she was having trouble remembering to keep her arms "by her ears"....I actually had a parent tell me that she solved that problem with her daughter by having her raise her arms and...
The dreaded kip....I remember those days....it took my daughter 6 months to get her kip and then another month or so to keep her arms straight!! Just hang in there, and keep the attitude about the kip light! She'll get it....Good luck!!
Just have a question....my daughter is new to gymnastics (only been in for 1 year now)...Many of our girls have a lot of dance experience, and I notice that my daughter has difficulty in this area. My dd has mentioned to me that she would like to look into taking dance lessons. Does anyone...
I got one for my daughter and it helped on some things...there need to be ground rules for them. She practices jumps on the tramp with weights on her legs and that seems to have helped with her jumps.... When she wanted to do front and back tucks, I made her show her coach at the gym to make...
