Does she have any experience doing cheer? I would suggest trying out for middle school cheer(if your school has it) or maybe a half year All Star cheer team to see if she even likes it, because tumbling aside, they are very different sports. You can also check out ncsasports.org and search...
Arena Gymnastic/Gymland is in Mercer County NJ, depending on where you are in Monmouth County it’s not a far drive. They’ve had many girls get college scholarships.
Does she want to quit to do All Star Cheer like a Pop Warner cheer? I ask because tumbling Is a big part of All Star and if she is having mental blocks in tumbling that could follow her to cheer. Or maybe being in a different environment may be what she needs. My daughter went from gymnastics...
Absolutely! There are several girls on DD team who are amazing tumblers but not “sassy” dancers. They are highlighted for tumbling and are happy to be in the back row for dancing:)
DD switched to competitive All Star cheer a few years ago, and loves it! As she said it had all the things she loved-tumbling, dance and performing to a crowd. She practices about 9 hours a week total, so it keeps her busy but gives her time for other activitit’s, she also very much enjoys the...
Haha- would you be in the South by chance? I will agree cheer parents can be intense but the real over the top “look” and dressed up parents has been something I’ve seen more at big southern competitions such as NCA and Cheersport than up north
My DD switched to all star cheer and loves it, the team aspect just worked better for her and she still gets to do the tumbling she loves, however I don’t think it would be possible to do both comp cheer and comp gym(unless maybe excel). All star cheer is year round and the competition season...
Yes! I am so tired of people “shaming“ parents or kids who are sad, upset, disappointed whatever emotion about the upheaval this has caused in their lives. My DD(12)switched to all star cheer from gymnastics a few years ago and she’s so sad her season is most likely over, that her dance...
Are you moving to north, central or south NJ? New Jersey isn't a big state but no way would you want to commute to a gym in North Jersey if you live in South Jersey
You're paying $240 a month for a once a week class?! I really hope that is a typo because that's what I paid my daughter was going six hours a week for pre-team.
My daughter is a similar height and weight and can wear the adult xs, they fit her fine in the waist but are a bit looser in the leg than the child sizes
Two of my boys play lacrosse and this has been a huge concern for several years among high school, club and college coaches. I'm not surprised they passed the rules, most seemed to be on board with it.
But not everyone wants to share their personal information; it might not be because she's embarrassed by it, she may be very open about it to friends and family but doesn't feel the need to share it with the world. There's nothing wrong with that.
I have to chime in to agree that 30 mins of homework for kindergarten is ridiculous. At our school, depending on the teacher, there is either no homework or a 2 page packet given on Monday and due on Friday for kindergarteners. If it's causing so much stress for your daughter, I just wouldn't...
I believe one of our poster's daughter is a Temple Gymnast, it looks like they may be stranded on the Pa turnpike for another night! Hope they're doing ok.
Just wondering about the headaches. My friend's daughter started getting terrible headaches when she was around 10/11. They would be so bad she couldn't go to practice or stay at practice, they took her to neurologists and other doctors and no one could figure out what might be wrong. She was...
I recently noticed that a few girls that left my daughter's gym for another gym a few years have returned. I don't know the circumstances of why they left in the first place or why they've returned, but having read so many stories about bad gym departures it got me wondering if it is common to...
