Question for Canadians about training hours

Specifically about CPN program training hours if you have the program at your gym. How many hours per week? Is it the same if they are Aspire or Elite? If they are 8, 9 or 10? I know there aren't many here that offer the program, but I think a few do! Thank you in advance.

How much to expect with increased hours

My DD will be going from 2 hours twice a week to 3 hours 4days a week for the summer. At the end of the summer the coach will determine if she should move up to L4 team and continue the 12 hours, or over to the AAU side which would drop back to 4 hours. She was told she will have to work very...

    How many hours a week?

I am a level 6 gymnast at a YMCA. I was wondering how long other level 6's practice. I practice 9.5 hours a week and I'm not sure if it's enough. I'm questioning this because I have heard of other level 6's practicing 15 hours a week. Also, I feel it's weird that level 4's only get 0.5 hours...

    Summer hours?

Just curious how many hours your kiddos do in the gym on a weekly basis over the summer? This will be DD's first summer in a private gym program... At the Y, summer hours were the same as the rest of the year. Also she's moving from compulsories to optionals, so another big jump in hours from...

NDP 1 training hours for 6yr old

So my daughter has been asked to increase hours for NDP for this year to 9 hours, im assuming its for NDP 1 as this is her first year competing, although she has been doing 4 hrs per week in a development class. Is 9 hours the norm for NDP 1 at 6 years old? It just seems like a lot

    Practice hours advice

Hi! We're Americans in the UK... It's been almost 6 mo that dd's been trained in artistic gymnastics and per YouTube videos dd's a level 3 (although I saw no difference in vault between level 3 and 4 and her bar might be an almost level 3, she can't put her feet together on the bar with hands...

Parents Is this enough hours for level 6?

We are looking at doing 3.5 hours 3x/week for a new level 6 USAG program. Is this enough hours to do well? My DD did very well in level 5, won a few meets, but was going 4 days at 3.5 or 4 hours each day. Too much time, so we are scaling back. How many hours do some of the other level 6 kids...

Currently, my level 4 daughter trains Tuesday 4-7:30 and Thursday and Friday 4-7. My level 5 trains Monday and Wednesday 5-8:30, Friday 4-7, and Saturday 9-12. My level 7 trains Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 5-8:30 and Saturday 9-12. In total: Level 4: 9 1/2 hours. Level 5: 13 hours. Level 7...

    MAG Hours per week

I saw this on another thread, but it was mostly the women's side responding. I was wondering about the boys! I know that the boys' side is way different. So, about how many hours a week does your ds spend at gym? D is a level 5, and he is there about 10-13 hours a week. That will change with...

2nd meet of the season in a couple of hours!

Luckily this meet is here in St Louis so no traveling!! I used to think it was cool to travel to meets now I just think it is a hassle!! (and too expensive). Here are the goals that Alex has set for herself. *Full turn on beam (this is a fear) *Hitting all the requirements for her bar...

Hours & Training: Quality or Quantity? Which is better? Or is it a good mix of Both?

I have taken Bog's suggestion and started a new thread :). There has been some discussion on schedules and how many hours gymnasts train and there has been a wide variety in the amount of hours. I am guessing that there is no set magic number of how many training hours is "best" because each...

    Parents too many hours!

My dd is working on level 5 this year and over the summer she trained 16 hours a week. It was actually an optional 12 or 16, but we chose 16 because she was not doing any other activities. Well, I was thinking the fall schedule would offer an option of 12 or 16 as well, but when we saw the...

    Parents Hours in the gym...

I know there are a jillion posts about how many hours at what level, etc. This is a slightly different question. My daughter is on a Y team that competes USAG (not on a Y league) and my biggest complaint has always been that she is practicing about half the number of hours as the girls she...

How many hours of practice for L5? L6?

Hi all, We are in the middle of trying to adjust to a new gym, adjust to my older daughter's new dance schedule, and adjust to life in general. It's not going so well.:p Just kidding. Just lots to figure out. How many hours do your teams practice L5 per week? What about L6? Just trying to...

    just wondering...training hours/cost for L4

I would like to get others' opinions on L4 training hours & costs. My dd competed last year as a L3 and for the fall season had been training 9hrs/wk. Now at L4 her summer training hours are 16hrs/wk with a cost of $320/month. Is this on par with other gyms? I'm not so worried about the...

Are there minimum training hours at the elite level?

I know that I may get ten different answers if I ask ten different people. I also realize that different gymnasts may require more or less and there may be advantages to both. What I’m wondering is if there is any kind of bare minimum? For any elite coaches in our midst: -Is there a set...
