Hi

We don't have our own gym, so we're practicing in a regular gym in a school.
One problem we have is that it takes forever to get rid of the chalk after bar practice, especially since there is no mop that we can use.
We have to buy something to avoid having to clean the whole area with tissues/paper towels

But we don't know what we want.
  • Deepclean vacuum?
  • A simple mop?
  • Something else
All suggestions would be helpful.

The only good way to remove the chalk is to remove the gymnasts... :) It depends how thoroughly you need to get rid of it. A good vacuum with a rotating brush will get much of it. The best way we've found to completely pick it up in one pass is to use a shop vac and a lawn pump sprayer. We put a little bit of cleaner in the water, then spray it on thick, followed by the squeegee head on the vac.

Even better...make them clean up the chalk!

Exactly! Do you need it to disappear entirely? If so...GOOD LUCK. A combination of shop vac + mop is the most practical solution. Make your students help with cleaning if possible. The main problem with chalk is that it gets in the air and agitates sensitive lungs. If your lessor only cares about aesthetics, just mop. A "good enough" mop should only be around $7. Can your students afford this?

Have you thought about the girls using liquid chalk? It is supposed to be less messy.
