Any suggestions for dealing with the bruising from casting on bars when returning to the gym after a protracted layoff? Do they just have to grit their teeth and deal with it until the skin toughens up again? Does bruising mean they're not controlling the cast effectively on the way down?

pubic bone bruises I assume?

If you are talking about pubic bone bruises, no it doesn't necessarily mean they are doing something wrong. Top bar workers get them too. Padding helps a little, but there is a certain amount of getting used to it.

My daughter had little bumps from casting. Coach said it’s normal. She took a few days off from that skill and hasn’t complained since.

The long weekend helped, and she said yesterday she was casting to handstand without worrying too much about the bruises.
