In a round-off back handspring back tuck dismount on beam, if the gymnast lands incorrectly (like if one foot sort of slips off) should the gymnast be encouraged to complete the dismount, or to stop for safety reasons? I see, a lot of times, the landings get really messed up if they try to keep going.

Generally by the time you realize that a foot has missed you are already rotating so you must rotate it so you dont land on your neck. I am taught that if I miss a foot I have to pull around. My coach would rather us land safely (either hands a knees or on feet depending on how much height and speed you had) than to go for a dismount with one foot off as it is better to be safe than have a high start value which will probably end up the same as doing something simple as you probably wont land it.
So I say neither, learn a safe exit incase you need it (such as back tuck to hands and knees)
