My dd's doctor has her in a T1 Active Ankle Trainer Ankle Brace T1 Active Ankle Trainer Ankle Brace (Free Shipping). This allows her to move her foot up and down while not allowing her to twist her ankle. She has been told to wear an athletic shoe to keep the piece on the bottom from slipping. The question is if anyone has used this brace without an athletic shoe and how this was accomplished. I'm wondering if you could tape on the outside of the brace. Also, is there an alternative brace that accomplishes the same goal without the need for a shoe. She is only 2-1/2 weeks post injury and is not ready for tape only.
