I have absolutely no clue if this is good idea or not, but we just use a damp paper towel to wipe off the mats. If anyone else has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.

Would a diluted bleach solution work? What do the mat manufacturers recommend? I know bar mats we would just mop, but they just get chalky, not al germy like the preschool mats.

I've heard lysol with water was used a lot. Here was a post I found online:

Lysol Original liquid with the blue cap. Dilute with 3 parts water. This is a good formula as it kills most bacteria and common viruses. Plus, the odor is very pleasant.

I wouldn't clean the foam inside the covering with anything. If it wears out or gets moldy you need to replace the foam. Anything you try to clean it with will just be absorbed. If you are in a pinch they do make powder base cleaners, but they are expensive.

DD's coach sprays "Scrubbing Bubbles" cleaner on the mats and the girls wipe them down with damp towels after every practice.

I like the Simple Green and Lysol ideas. I think I will share them with the coach.
