quick question....

what is the deduction on beam when (in the L4 routine) the gymnast fails to hold the one footed landing and steps back onto the back foot to keep her balance?? Some have said it counts as a fall, but that seems like a pretty big deduction. I know someone here will have the answer!

Thanks!!!

I don't think they can count an extra step as a fall... that's two different things to me. My opinion is they can take .05 for failure to pause in arabesque and then .10 for taking steps after landing (up to .4) and up to .30 for additional trunk movements to maintain balance (assuming there is a balance check in with the placing foot on the beam). I'm not a judge (yet) but am in training to become one...
Hope this helps (and I'm right!) :)
