what exactly does 40-175 years mean? That's an awfully large range there? I know he got 60 for the pornography and forty would still give him 100 but it seems to me the judge could that just thrown the book at him and gave him the 175 flat? Could she not have done that?

USOC apology

Key points: 1. directly called for all USAG directors to resign: "This includes a full turnover of leadership from the past, which means that all current USAG directors must resign."

2. will not decertify USAG at this time but "But we will pursue decertification if USA Gymnastics does not fully embrace the necessary changes in their governance structure along with other mandated changes under review right now."

It means he becomes eligible for parole after 40 but won't be guaranteed release until after 175 years, so never. Of course, all of that is after the 60 years he already had so odds are good he will die before serving any of this. And she couldn't have given him more than 40 minimum because those were the terms of the agreement when he pled guilty. She gave him the harshest sentence possible without giving him the chance to go back on his plea.

I can’t believe he was still claiming in his letter that everything he did was “medical not sexual.” If that was the case why didn’t he use gloves, get consent, inform the parents, have a chaperone etc. Who exactly did he mean that letter for? It went to the judge but he’s calling her “she” and bashing her.

Do you think that includes Liukin?

3. launching an independent investigation: "This investigation will include both USAG and the USOC, and we believe USAG will cooperate fully. We will make the results public."

4. supporting survivors: " Team USA safe sport assault victims and survivors need access to testing, treatment and counseling. The USOC will devote substantial funds to help provide these resources to victims and survivors. We are working on the details of how this funding will become available to athletes and will communicate them soon."

I believe his title is National Team Coordinator. So, yes I would be curious who that includes. Rhonda Faehn certainly would be included right?

That is a good question...do they mean "official directors" like with a title of director or people who are directors over certain things? What is his title, officially?

and are they including the new men's program director?

I hope lots of prisoners enjoy touching him.

There I cannot go. No living, sentient entity should have their bodily integrity violated in this way, no matter what they have done.

I do wish USAG had done a purge without having to be ordered to do so. USOC is facing the same liability risk, but they have now put themselves in a much stronger position in the public eye by taking the initiative to come down on USAG.
