Floor was my biggest challenge as I moved through optionals, although vault was rough until I learned a yurchenko. I did the bare minimum tumbling I could get away with and compensated with dance where I could. Bars came easily to me, but that tends to be a big one for a lot of people. My husband things I'm crazy, but I will always contend that physically, beam is easy. It's a mental game. By the time you do most skills on beam, you've already been doing them on floor for years.
I'm actually interested in seeing how the newer vaults for level 6/7 effect that event's progressions moving forward. I did gymnastics when level 6 was still compulsory, and competing below level 4 was kind of rare, so you did a front handspring in levels 4, 5, and 6, as well as a lot of level 7s (including me - I never got the 1/2 on 1/2 off!) and then you'd get to level 8 and pretty much have to flip something. Progressively, I love the move to competing timers.
