Proud Parent
So our gym is doing a Flip-A-Thon to celebrate National Gymnastics Day. The girls will collect pledges for how many "flips" they can do it 2 minutes

For those that have done this type of fundraiser before, did the funds go directly back to the gymnast? Do they have to pay personal taxes on that as income?

We do have a parent association, but they are not a 501c3 yet. All the other fundraisers were things like open gym and haven't done any selling kind of things

The flipathons I have seen, the money goes to the gym or parents association - depending on who is running it. If it is the PA, then the girls were told in advance that 80% of the money goes to the gymnasts accounts (501c3, so distributed evenly ... And non 501c3, so just distributed among the participating gymnasts, but still evenly) and 20% to the general fund.
