I noticed that there was no mention of floor and vault (2 piece) competition here? Do these not take place in other countries? Floor and vault competition is often an option for older gymnasts or gymnasts who only train a few hours a week. Some clubs have floor and vault squads, and some also use these as preperation for 4 piece competitions for young gymnasts, before they have mastered many skills on bars and beam.

Please vote in the poll and expand in a comment. I'm really interested to know!

We also do tramp in our regional circuit. Lots of fun for the girls, but as they can only train under 9 hours a week it makes it a real coaching challenge to train all 5 in so few hours.

I think those sound great! DD would do that in a heartbeat. In Ontario it is now possible to compete provincially as an "event specialist" (pick 1 or 2 events only) though this option is only available to >14 yrs, L7 & up gymnasts. DD is planning on this (or TUM) when she's old enough/wants to cut back.

My oldest now competes in our regional circuit, she's 13 in high school, the hours are great. She can compete on any or all of the 5 apparatus and qualify for the provinicals that way too. It is great for the older gymnast.

Nope never heard of a 2 piece competition in my area of USA. But I know my DD would jump at the idea! Floor & vault bring her the most joy:D.
