my gymnast is working on the front handspring front tuck vault but has not been able to make the vault yet. what are the best drills for rotating and sitting up faster off the vault or any other drills to improve the vault?
 
For that vault we do lots and lots of double front work... in all different ways. Things like layout double fronts off of a mini tramp into loose foam.
 
Here is a great heel drive drill…

 
I think "sitting up" is the wrong way to think about it.

Crank the heels over and watch the table until after the hands are off it; then cowboy it.
 
I'm a gymnast working this vault, but my gym doesn't have a pit. I do the vault onto a resi mat and land on my back/butt. Any ideas on how to transition this to landing on my feet and not over/under rotating?

We teach all sorts of double front work...
  • On a trampoline
  • Off of a trampoline onto a mat or resi
  • Off of a mini tramp / springboard / double springboard onto a mat or resi
Once an athlete can land a double front... then we move onto the handspring front landing.
