I am working on the front tuck flip at gymnastics training center. How should I envision what I do with my glutes during the flip? Should I "think about lifting my glutes over my head" or lifting it over the shoulder? How do you train your students?

I don't really tell them to focus on the hips and glutes at all.

I generally tell athletes to think about standing tall and trying to lift the back of their head as they take off. Once you leave the floor, there's nothing to it but to tuck until you finish the rotation.

We were always told 'glutes over head, not head under glutes' because the latter makes us fall to the ground, and the former allows us to flip.

I was once told to try and hit my bottom on the ceiling... not sure if it was the right advice but it helped me
