This is more of a release of frustration than anything else, so I will release it here. My daughter only competed a single event at regionals and won that event, yet didn't get to go to nationals as a wildcard because they break ties with AA scores. My frustration is, and look i know the rules and everything, but it does't mean I can't and she can't be frustrated.. but we keep seeing girls from other regions going to nationals as a wildcard and their scores are way lower. It just stinks, that's all i am saying. Wildly throwing myself on the floor kicking and screaming like a toddler right now.. ( not really, but writing this out make me feel like i am).. ;)

I agree with you on this one. In the spirit of competition, it doesnt make sense. If one is going as an event specialist, then I would think tiebreakers would factor in season performance on that event. I would take their average score with at least 3 competitions during the season. Why use the all-around score?! You are not qualifying as an all-arounder! Frustrate away!

Thanks, I am glad someone didn't attack for being real! ha ha! It's nice to complain about something, even though we know it won't change the outcome. Darn rules are silly!

I would be just as frustrated. It might change the outcome if you let USAG know. Isn't this specialist category new? So maybe they just didn't think it through well enough and won't know there is an issue unless people bring it up. It has been a long while for me - don't they have 4 judges at regionals? So the tie breaker could be the average of all 4 judges and any ties at that point are awarded a spot

I wouldn't even know where to start in order to let usag know. I do however think that if a girl gets first place in and event, that it should be automatic.

I feel for you! It's so hard when things like this happen. Of course life isn't fair blah blah blah but when it's about qualifying to nationals, and the process seems so unfair, it's really frustrating. Hang in there!

I am not fond of the rules for event specialists. It's generally harder for them to make it to regionals in the first place, and then they go on to have experiences like your daughter's when they do make it. Hopefully, your daughter will have another chance if she is not graduating/retiring.

From the USAG rules and regs:

Would make sense for this to carry over for All-Star selection.
