Hi!

I have a quick question, and I'm hoping someone here might have some advice. DD, 10, has been in her US Glove double buckle grips for about six months. Just recently, she's noticed that she has a few small abrasions on her middle fingers of one hand. She suspects it's from her grips. I've had her cleaning them (the abrasions, not the grips!) and applying bag balm and band aids for the past couple of days, hoping to soften the skin a bit.

Does it sound like maybe her finger holes should be widened? Or, is this normal? I can't remember reading any threads on this. I've told her to mention it to her coach at practice for advice, but sometimes she forgets or they're busy and she doesn't want to interrupt.

Anyway, thanks!

I would say this is a normal part of working bars, and it will get better! The skin will toughen up and not hurt so much with time.

Use 220 grit sandpaper until she begins to feel the sanding sensation. Follow up with vitamin e oil or fresh garlic oil.
