Dani

well gymnbot posted a poem so I got inspired!
Here is my own Version I call it :

Leotard!

Life as a gymnast can be
hard!
But no matter what I look cool
in my new leotard!

Floor. Bars. Vault and
Beam
We can win all of them cause we
are a great
team!

Never give up says
my coach
I Can do what I want to!
Even if it take a million tries
I will always see it
through!

All the judges can be
harsh and stern!
But in the end I will win a medal
in return!

Life as a gymnast can
be hard!
But no matter what I look cool
in my leotard!

I jump of the beam my
dismount I stick it!
This way I always Know Im gunna
Win it!

The time has come to learn
a new skill!
I can do it as long as Ive
got it in my head
I will I will!

Walkover. Backflip
Twist!
Ive got it through to the new
competition
My name is on the
list!

Life as a gymnast can
be hard!
But no matter what I look cool
in my leotard!

Time has come for my practise
to end!
Its time to say goodbye
to my gymnastic
friends!

My coaches say well
done!
I know ive earned it as Ive had
lots of fun!

As I head for the door my arms
and feet hurt!
I pull on a T-shirt and
a red skirt!

Life as a gymnast can
be hard!
But no matter what I look cool
In my leotard!

very nice. I like the chorus (if i can call it that) part "Life as a gymnast can be hard! But no matter what I look coll in my leotard!"

I like it! I write gymn. poems too, but they're a bit more serious....

Fun to Fly
Somewhere behind the athlete you've become, the practices, the coaches who have pushed you, the meets you've competed in, the long time dedication, and the friendships you made along the way, there's a little girl who just thought it would be fun to fly.

Do you know her anymore?
Can you even remember her?

The little girl, mesmerized
By the leaping, the tumbling, the swinging.
Watching the older girls’ every move.
Wide-eyed.

The little girl
Who was so fearless,
Willing to do whatever it took
To be just like them.

Well now you are one of them.
But she’s not.
She’s still that same little girl.
You made it. Good job.

Along the way, though,
She got lost.
Lost in all the competition.
Lost in the fear of new tricks.

All of a sudden
A hard worker replaced the free dreamer.
Admiration became competition.
Just wanting it wasn’t enough.

Flight didn’t just happen,
It was precise and calculated.
And that scared her away.
And you let her go.

Maybe you even forgot her.
You had new friends,
Learned a good work ethic.
Dreaming stopped being important.

But it shouldn’t have.
The dreamer and the worker
Don’t have to be separate.
They are even more powerful united.

Find that little girl in you again.
The one who just wants to fly,
The one who isn’t afraid to let go,
And be all she can, do all she can.

She’s there. She’s waiting for you. She will never grow older, wiser, stronger, better. But you can, and will. She needs you, almost as much as you need her. Find her. Hold her close. Let her live through you. Do all your new skills with her. Fly for her.

Just Keep Flying

I promise to push myself.
I promise to try.
I’ll always let go,
So I can just fly.

Determination,
I’ve got it no doubt,
But when I show it
There’s no need to brag, to shout.

Perseverance,
I will never give up.
Never stop trying, stop flying,
Or be knocked down, like a little cup.

I’ll just go for it,
Because I’d never know,
What I could do,
If I didn’t let go.

It’s not how well I do,
It’s that I can say,
You know what,
I did my best today.

Stronger

You’re always trying to bring me down,
And say things that aren’t true.
When the one who has a problem,
Is most certainly you.

I put in extra effort,
And it hasn’t gone to waste.
But you overlooked it,
Because of all your haste.

I’m still flying higher,
And that just goes to show.
That nothing you do or say
Will be a grand blow.

I’m getting better,
And though you’re no worse,
You’re always finding fault in me,
Yet I stay so terse.

Don’t you get it yet?
I’m flying, confident, and strong.
You don’t get to me,
So you’re the one who must be wrong

I’m being all I can be,
And helping others soar.
Your negative comments
Are really quite a bore.

I’m going to go far,
And you can too,
If you take the negatives,
Out from everything you do.

Heart of a Lion

Heart of a Lion,
Courageous with no fear
Of falling or failing,
Never to disappear.

Eye of a tiger,
Keen and quick,
Reading its opponents,
Through thin and through thick.

Grace of a dolphin,
Moving with ease,
Winning the crowd’s eye,
Oh so very pleased.

Speed of a cheetah,
Never slowing down,
Always training,
Without a frown.

Strength of a giant,
Powerful to no end,
Showing it off,
And using it to bend.

Heart, eye, grace, speed, and strength,
A situation hit or miss.
Dedicated, driven, proud, and sure,
This is what an athlete is

There's another one I'm looking for, it's not on my computer though; I did it by hand-it's never been typed. It's called Athlete and the Audience.

Thoes were awesome I loved the first one
Especialy! But thats just me and all! ^_^

Wow--those were awesome! I love the first one also, and I think it is completely true. Awesome job!

Thanks. It was inspired by all the little girls I teach and the poem was a gift to my team this year. All of them have a story. Just Keep Flying was about a flyaway that I was really scared about-or as my English teacher calls it "a great life philosophy". Stronger was abut a gym pest. Heart of a Lion was three-page guided journal entry-turned poem.
I found some more, but not the one I was looking for.
(this one was at State when I got sick in the middle of the night and I was so sore it hurt to move)

What I Love

When you're heart's pounding
And you just want to stop
Go back home
Sit in your room and rot
When you feel it's not there
Not even way down deep
And you just want to
Call it quits and weep
You've got to remember
It's what you love
Going hard
And flying high above
Think of all those hours
Spent in the gym
Working hard all for
That one big win
When you're about to freeze
Before doing something new
Hear this in your head,
"It's what I love, it's what I do"

This one was at the Green County Invite. Keep in mind I was a level six. Bars was my best event and they were only going out one place for awards.

Smile On

Smile, slaute
Stand before the bar
Think; here's my chance
To make a splash
Grip
Kip
Cast, clearhip
Connect the squat-on
Highbar kip-cast
Pullover, nice underswing
Tap it out, 1-2
Tuck a little, let go
Flip open
Here my feet
Hit the mat
Stuck Routine
Smile, salute
Wait for the score
Good, but good enough?
Awards-I've won
Stand on the podium
Smile, salute
One last time today
Get ready
For next week.

Thanks! You should have seen my trying to write it. I ended up having to work on the computer b/c my handwriting was so shaky. Tears were pouring down my face and it still makes me cry. But I am extremely sensitve....

I write song lyrics more than poems!

Here is one chorus of a song im working on!

Here I stand looking out to thoes watching me!
My head I hold up high! Not knowing what I might see:
Girls better, stronger, faster than me!

I finally found the one I was looking for.

The Athlete and the Audience

You dance like no one's watching,
Even though you know they are.
You know your smile's fake,
Yet from know this they're far.
You're doing tons of tricks, yet playing some too,
But they don't seem to mind; they wouldn't dare to boo.
You're being a showoff, usually despised,
Yet they paid money, just to see your prize.
You were getting nervous,
And were positive they saw.
Yet as you saw them watching you,
You could tell they found no flaw.
As you were twisting, turning, and flying,
They could not see how hard you were trying.
As you were gliding from bar to bar,
They were close, yet so far.
As you keep your balance up on the beam, and look so very poised,
They could not make a single noise.
As you pick up all that speed, and fly to unknown heights,
They cheer so loudly, just as you like.
You stuck all your landings, and hit all your routines.
They sat, then stood, and never missed a beat.
You slid into your sweats
And became one of them.
Then sat and watched your friend,
And saw it start again.
