I'm one of those annoying parents who think my dad/mom jokes are hilarious. So I appreciated this exchange today between the coach and my kid:
Kid: Can I go to bars?
Coach: Yes. (significant pause) ...When you are 21.

So let's hear your best (bad) gymnastics jokes!

Y'know, I had a fear of vaulting.

My coach told me to just get over it!

I fall off the beam.

Coach: Don't fall off the beam!
Me: Oh I didn't know that.
Coach: Aren't I helpful!

Which will usually be followed by an actual correction.

It's also a regular threat for our coaches to bite us if we don't keep our arms by our ears.

Once when we were learning back handsprings in Level 3, the coach was like
'When we do it we want to snap up, we don't want to be like one of those flexi rulers, cos when we pull them back they what? Class: Stay there Coach: Thats right we want to be like those plastic rulers because when we pull them back what do they do? Paige: They break Coach: I'll break you Paige. Never mind, do your back handsprings and don't break like Paige's ruler!
