questions for all gymnasts/former gymnasts:

what level are you in?
how many hours per week do you train (including conditioning)?
how many days a week do you train?
about how many hours per week do you do conditioning at your gym?

thanks :)

At my peak, I practiced around 15 hours a week. I competed as an elite floor and vault specialist.

I'm level 5. I practice 9 hours a week; 3 hours a day 3 days a week. We do about 2 hours of conditioning per week.

I'm in level 8. I practice 17 hours a week in 5 days. I would say that we do about 3 hours of conditioning. We rarely set aside time for conditioning as a separate 'event', but we do conditioning during warm-up (how much depends on the day) and we do some conditioning at each event.

Im P3, (about L7- L8). I train 12 hours a week all together (including conditioning), I go 3 days, 4 hours each time. For conditioning we do one hour for two of the practices, and the other practice we do an hour of dance.

Level 7-10 go 20 hours a week 4 hours a day 4 days a week. We do about 45-60minutes of conditioning each practice so around 3 1/2-4 hours.

When I competed as an optional I trained about 20 hours a week (4 hrs, 5x/week). We dedicated 45 minutes each practice to conditioning. I did TOPS training on top of that on saturdays for an hour and a half. My gym, when I first joined, was much more laid back - when I was a level 5 I only practiced 9 hours per week, but they quickly decided to increase the training schedule to 16 hours per week for compulsories and 20 for optionals.

I train 17 hrs/week, L7 (also competing L6). We go 4x a week for 4 hrs each, except on Saturdays which is 5 hrs. I almost wish it was more! I wish we had practice on Sundays since it's really hard to practice during the week w/ homework from school and such, but Sundays is everyone's "day off".

We condition 30-45 minutes depending on the day, sometimes plus a few exercises during each event. For example, we work on handstands and presses on beam, jumping and standing front+back tucks on floor, leg lifts and shoulder strength on bars, and wrist/ankle exercises plus running and rope climbs on vault.

Our competitive classes train Sundays, because we have so many kids in our rec. program that Saturdays are their time in the gym. Competitive is never in the gym while rec. is there. SO we have Sundays instead of Saturdays and I like it a lot better, it give me a day to be with friends and have somewhat of a social life.

Answering for Beth, since she's 12 and can't post on CB yet!

how many hours per week do you train (including conditioning)? 20 hrs
how many days a week do you train? during the school year--5 days
about how many hours per week do you do conditioning at your gym? About 2 hrs a week (20-30 min a day)

DD is a level 5 and her regular training schedule is 12 hours a week. 3 days at 4 hours a day. They condition about 1 hour per practice so 3 hours a week. DD does additional conditioning on her off days and she does 1 private a week and 2 hours of open gym a week. In the summer she does about 16 hours a week for training with 4 hours of conditioning. They do conditioining at each event for approx 15 minutes.

Answering for my pre's

Level.. Well were in canada but were comparable to usa level 4
Hours... 9 weekly
Days... 3 days of 3 hrs
Conditioning...1.5 to 2 hrs weekly

Kids are 5 turning 6 and 6 turning 7

Right now, 11 hours per week 3 days a week, which is the most you can train at my gym at the moment. Tuesday we go 3 hrs, Thursday we go 3 hrs and Sunday we go 5 hrs. We probably do about 4 hours of conditioning at the gym, 7 or 8 if you count home conditioning. As I strted gym late, I'm competiting what would be USA's Level 5. We don't really train for the next level up, we train what skills that are challenging enough.

My DD trains 17 hours per week, 3.5 hours X 4 during the week and 3hrs on Saturday. She is equivalent to USAG Level 7 (our level 4/5). I think she has around 45 minutes conditioning per training.

My DS trains also trains 17 hours per week, 3 hours X 4 and 4 hours on Saturday. He is MAG Level 6. He has around 45 minutes conditioning too.

editting my other post since it is to late. I go 5 days a week for 4 hours not 4 days. It stays the same year round. We do aprox. 45 minuntes on conditioing a week. So about 2 hours and 25 minutes.
