AlexsGymmyMom

Proud Parent
I am wanting to make a playlist of songs that I can play in the car on the way to a gymnastics meet this coming weekend. A couple that come to mind are The Climb by Miley Cyrus and Firework by Katy Perry. I would love some more songs to include so please add to my list! I am having a block and cannot come up with anymore. They need to appeal to a 9 and 11 year old girl. Thanks for your help!!

One my mom always used to make me listen to before a competition or something is "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilara. Don't know why, but it is a beautiful song. Not sure if she'll like it, but I do and I'm thirteen. Worth a try!

A lot of these will be motivational as opposed to inspirational but i'll try
Nobody's Perfect - Hannah Montana
Start Me Up/Living on a Prayer - Glee (this is more motivational or just getting them pumped up)
Halo - Beyonce
Together we can - Cheetah girls (quite a few years old but definitely her age group)
Don't Stop Believing - Glee
The Time of my Life - Glee or even the original from dirty dancing <3 :p
Who Said - Hannah Montana
Man in the Mirror - Michael Jackson
Never grow up - Taylor Swift (not so inspirational but telling them to enjoy their childhood)
I also find a lot of the Harry potter soundtrack quite inspirational
Defying Gravity - Wicked

Wow, those are great ideas!! I guess I meant more motivational songs!! Keep em coming!! We have a 2 hour drive ahead of us this Friday!

Forgot to mention a few
Eye of the tiger - Survivor
This is my life - Bon Jovi - I LOVE THIS SONG AS AN INSPIRATIONAL SONG!!! i think she should like it but if she doesn't there is a glee mash up with confessions and this is my life

Boom Boom Pow by the Black Eye Peas(You can get the radio edit version! Someone put a Youtube gymnastics video to it if you need visual help lol) as well as " Don't back down" by Tom Petty and "Fighter" by Christina Aguleria

I'm not sure I can be of much help in this department, I'm usually way behind the times in terms of music. But a few that came to mind:
Fearless by Taylor Swift
Long Live by Taylor Swift
Crazy Dreams by Carrie Underwood
Play On by Carrie Underwood
Believe in Me by Demi Lovato
Stand by Rascal Flatts
Unstoppable by Rascal Flatts (they made a mix for the Olympics, not sure if it's still available)

They don't have to be pop music that's in right now to appeal to a preteen girl! When I was your daughter's age I liked things like...
Super Trooper - ABBA
Dancing Queen - ABBA
Popcorn - Crazy Frog
Axel F - Crazy Frog
Pump Up the Jam - Crazy Frog
The Anthem - Good Charlotte
Play That Funky Music - Wild Cherry
Festa - Ivete Sangolo (this is a weird one...it's Portuguese, but it's really upbeat and I love it)
Funkytown!

Ahaha. I'm such a geek. I have varied interests...I've got Bollywood hits and classic soul on the same playlists...
The one I think is the ultimate gym song is Stronger by Kanye West. "That-that-that don't kill me can only make me stronger."

I always listen to Here I Am- Carly Patterson
Little Wonders- Rob thomas (haha I just realized these 2 songss are the last 2 songs posted on this thread)
Breathe Slow- The Coverband (the originals girl's isnt on iTunes so I just got that. this song really helps you calm down)
Its On- Superchick
Firework- Katy Perry
Don't Stop believin'- Glee
Dynamite- Taio Cruz
Supergirl - Saving jane (Nastia's theme :D)
and probably anything Glee (gotta love Glee)

Step Away by Carly Patterson
Back to the Beginning by Carly Patterson
Dream by Miley Cyrus
The Power of the Dream by Celine Dion
The World's Greatest by R. Kelly
Marching on by One Republic
I Gotta Feelin' by Black Eyed Peas
Or anything else that will pump her up! I always feel less nervous if I'm pumped up! :)

Stronger by Kanye West and Whoa Is Me by Down With Webster always really pumps me up.
Pretty much any song done by Glee is good.
Like Mack the Ripper, I have weird music tastes. I have cold hard classic rock and traditional gospel music on the same playlist. :p

Thanks so much everyone for the great ideas for a songlist. This is the list I have created from all the suggestion! I am sure Alex will LOVE it!!

Champion - Amy Diamond
I Gotta Feelin' by Black Eyed Peas

Martina McBride - This one's for the girls

That's all I can think of for now. I'll post more if I think of any more.
