**Judges Cup and Regular Meets**

Is there a difference between a "regular" meet and a Judges Cup? Do they like score differently or something? Or is that just a different name for a "regular" meet?

The judges in each state sponsor a special meet called the Judges Cup at which the judges donate their time. The idea is to raise money to send kids from their state to national meets. Clubs usually take turns being the host (but not getting much of the proceeds). This is also the meet at which the top level 7 girls in the state are chosen to compete in the national Judges Cup.

I didn't notice that the judging was any tighter at that meet, but it is always early in the competition season, so scores aren't as high as they might be later in the year.

Also at Judges Cup, the judges on each event write down on a sheet of paper where your deductions are coming from! It is really helpful so you know what mistakes they saw in your routines.

Our judges cup has sightly tighter scores, but then again is one of the first meets of the season. It is run completely by the judges. They do give each competitor a critique sheet with tips and positive comments. They also have a WOW award for each event. Not necessarily the highest score but something that they found impressive. My daughter's first meet this year and a new level will be a Judges Cup in 3 weeks.
