Is it beneficial for a level 9 to have a double back in her floor routine? Taking risk and reward into account.. Do the judges normally reward for having a difficult pass like a double back since it takes risk and there is a greater chance for a mistake.? Is it better to take a risk and do a more difficult pass; one that could be more impressive for both judges and spectators?

If you can land the double back well, then yes, it's better to have it in your routine. But if you do it poorly or scarily, then it's better to keep it out!

Put it in if you want it and can do it with consistently safe landings. It's too early in your training cycle to worry about how pretty it is or sticking the landings. There's plenty of time between now and when you have to have confidence in it for late season satisfaction.

So if you want to make a statement with-in your floor routine by doing a double back, or feel it will lift up the rest of your gymnastics in a rush of pride........talk it over with d'coach to make sure your both ok with it, and then step aboard the DB Express.

if it's good, do it. if not, do something else. there are more deductions for a poorly executed double than there are for some of the other passes. but you will need one at some point for college if you're going that route.:)
