4 up for qualifications and only 2 can qualify for all around and 2 for event finals. The two all arounders will definitely be Simone and either gabby (boo), Laurie, or Aly. Will they let all three compete to battle it out for the second spot or will they sit the girls out on their weaker events?

it will probably be aly, Simone, Laurie, Aly, and gabby on vault, beam floor....it really all comes down to bars. Do they put Kocian up so she can qualify for event finals or sit her out so the girls can battle for the AA? Do they sit Aly out on bars, her worst event, or let her try for the all around one final time??? Or Sit Laurie out on bars, the newcomer who could be back for 2020 but is capable of a higher bar score? Only 3 scores count so if the other 3 hit they could afford to have Aly compete (that's what I'm rooting for)

Bars lineup
-Gabby
-Simone
-Madison
-Laurie or Aly?????

What do you think?

I think it all depends on who has been hitting best at camp and training between Aly and Laurie and possibly Gabby. I think Gabby and Laurie will fight for the 2nd AA spot.

They cannot put up everyone on UB in prelims - only 4 of the 5

My guess is that Aly or possibly Laurie won't go on UB and will therefore be out of AA. It feels unfair that one of them will be denied AA to make place for Gabby who performed worse at nationals and trials

Madison will definitely go up. The whole purpose of bringing her was to qualify her to the bars final and snag a bars medal.
Simone will definitely go. She's pretty much a lock for an AA medal, probably gold.
Martha has already said in interviews that she wants Gabby to do AA. Sponsors will want Gabby to do AA and NBC's commentators have pegged her as a bars specialist. So Gabby will most likely be on bars.

Between Laurie and Aly, Laurie has the better bars by a wide margin- 0.35 at trials. I think Aly is unfortunately going to get hurt by the situation and get knocked out of AA with the consolation prize that she's probably going to medal on floor again.

Marta said in that conference call a while back that they'll make the decision at podium training - August 3rd or 4th. We'll find out whenever the start lists for qualifications are released - which depends on the coaches and the Olympic staff.

Thank you!! I can't believe the Olympics start THIS WEEK! So excited :)

I'm so excited too!!! I have tried to promote the Olympics for my group of 7-10 year old compulsory level gymnasts. It's not made too easy to watch the sports that don't have Finnish athletes from television so they don't really have any idea what's going on. I have printed pictures of American gymnasts and also some Russian and Romanian and put them on the conditioning sheets so the girls will get to know all the best ;) I also told them they could Google some of those gymnast and watch Youtube videos to get started. I know I know, I'm relentlessly manipulating them to love my favorites! Today I made sure they'll know how to watch the games on Sunday. One of my 7 years olds told me today that her favorite gymnast is Sibeli Bailis. Took me a minute to realize that she was talking about Simone Biles ;)

On Saturday there's gonna be a Finnish gymnast Oskar Kirmes competing on MAG qualifications! That's awesome since we haven't had anyone there in ages.

EDIT: Sorry for the off topic!
