NBC is requiring people to log in with their cable provider this time -- so us internationals are out of luck. :( Hopefully the trials will show up on YouTube before too long.

How are you watching it from Canada? It won't let me watch online, its supposed to be on tv at 9 or 10 tonight for me, but I would love to watch it now.

Oh yay I Skyped my brother in Texas and he gave me his login info and now I can watch. A bit too late for today but I can see the finals on Sunday at least!

So sad McKayla fell twice. :( She's one of my favorites. Oh well, there's always Sunday...
As for Nastia, must say I was not surprised that she bombed it. No way is she making the team now. Wait, scratch that. She's Marta's pet. Of course she'll make the team. Or at least as an alternate. Then Marta will pull a bait and switch. I sure hope that doesn't happen.
Hm... what else to say.
Oh, I was laughing my head off when Tim and Elfi once again made their "team" on the board.
I think this is the first time I have ever seen Elizabeth Price on tv. I guess they finally figured out that, oh, she might actually make the team, I guess we better show her! I read somewhere, probably on some gymnastics blog, that she is the "real life Colleen Evans." (make it or break it reference, for those who didn't figure it out)
Online coverage was terrible (at least for me). It was being all jumpy and skipping the whole time. Oh, and it stopped before the competition ended. Missed Kyla's vault and Aly's floor. And it showed stupid commercials and fillers instead of actual gymnastics. Sigh.
Oh yeah, and Bridget! I was so disappointed that she had to scratch. I heard she had a mishap on the bars in warm ups and something happened to her elbow. Does anybody know what happened and how she's doing? Oh, and if she is okay, will she still be allowed to compete on Sunday or not?
Well, that's all my random thoughts for now.

Nastia is definetly out. I know she may be a favorite of Marta's but I don't think that even she'll sacrifice a possible gold just to have Nastia on the team. I'd say Gabby Jordan and Aly for sure. Other than that is anyone's guess at this point. It depends on what events they want specialists in.

I was sad for Mckayla too. I hope she gets to go to London. I had the same reaction when they finally started to show Price. I get so mad when they just show Nastia upset after bars and talk it to death and then show Gabby putting chalk on her grips when there are actually gymnasts competing that we'd like to see....
I'm anxious to see who the team will be, but I also feel bad for the girls whose dreams are going to be crushed Sunday night. I was watching the swimming trials right before the Gymnastic trials and thinking how simple the process is for them- you finish 1st or 2nd and you go, end of story.

What is up with Rebecca Bross and that beam dismount? She should have changed it a year ago. I can't remember the last time I saw her land it cleanly. Who would have thought two years ago that she wouldn't be going to London? I think she's out - alternate at best. I wish we had one more year for Sarah Finnegan to be ready for London. I love her style.

My guess:

Jordyn
Gabby
Ali
Kyla
Elizabeth
Alt: McKayla

A week ago I had McKayla in and Sarah as alternate. Now I don't think so.

Ivy, I too think your first four are locks. I would be extremely surprised if any one of them didn't make the team.

How many alternates do we get? I really hope Sarah gets to go as an alternate at the very least. She has a beautiful style, very "international," as Marta always says!

I am thinking McKayla is really on the bubble right now. She needed to at the very least be solid on her other events, even if she wasn't bringing in high scores, but she was a wreck aside from vault and floor.

I think we can write Nastia out of the picture for real this time. As much as Marta may love her, I don't think she'll risk it, and Nastia has to realize that by now. She was a long shot from the getgo and her reputation got her farther than other gymnasts have gotten this go-around. Maybe if the team was larger she could go as an alternate, but not with only 5. I don't think they'll take her (or Bross) as an alternate either because it doesn't make sense to take specialists as alternates since you don't know what spot they might fill. Price or Finnegan or even McKayla make good choices as alternates, but I think for the true specialists it is all or nothing.

It was cool to watch with my daughter. I have never watched the gymnastics Olympic trials before. You don't appreciate how hard it is just getting onto the team. It was fun to watch my daughter watching her sport and falling in love with what will almost certainly become her heroes. Jordyn is her favorite.

Nastia surprised me. I can't see her getting on, even as an alternate now.

As a newbie to this, how does it work? They do two competitions and then how does it work? Is it the best of your two scores?

THe scores from both days are added together- which is the same for VISA Championships. Only the 1st place AA is a lock for the Olympic Team. The rest of the team is determined by the committee headed up by Marta. So theoretically, you could finish 2nd AA and still not go to the Olympics....

Even though Price does look good, I would still
put Maroney on the team over her. Maroney
outscored Price on vault and floor(likely the only
2 events either would do), and with Maroney you
also most likely get the vault gold.

Accoriding to forum chat the USOC agrees with you. People have said that the USOC is pressuring USAG to put Maroney on the team to get a vault medal. It would serve Price well to learn another vault for use at international competitons.

I have to comment on how much I love watching Gabby Douglas. I find myself cheering out loud for her (which I only usually do watching the NFL - lol). She and Chow give off such a great vibe. I love seeing them smile, especially when she hits.

I also love Sarah Finnegan's style. Her presentation is beautiful. I think she just needs a little more time, too.

Can't wait to see what happens tomorrow night!

Loved watching with my girls but HATED the live streaming version. We had that on the computer and the TV on as well initially in hopes it would be more like the UniversalSports coverage where they show you stuff even during commercial breaks. Apparently not. NBC could have at least showed the gymnastics on the streaming when they switched to swimming on TV (I like watching Lochte and Phelps but I came for gymnastics last night - not swimming! Really upset about that). Instead the streaming went to that annoying image of London FOREVER! Enough complaining of the coverage - the actual gymnastics was fun to watch. Geddert has done an amazing job getting Jordyn to the point she's at right now. I also LOVE Gabby - her smile lights up a room and she is great to watch. The fact she had the strength to pull through that bar routine was AMAZING! And whether she makes the team or not - it was a great night for Price! So glad they showed her. Hoping day 2 brings no injuries and allows every single gymnast to go 4 for 4.
