I just made my kip, but I to make it, I have to do a straddled glide swing. I may join the competition team soon. If you do a straddled kip in competition, is that allowed, or will you get a deduction? Also, if it is allowed, are you more likely to get a deduction because piked kips tend to look nicer?

I compete a straddled kip and have never had a problem. Even if a pike kip looks nicer generally a clean straddle kip looks a lot nicer than a messy pike kip. Do what you can do the cleanest and you are most comfortable with.

I've competed a straddle kip since level 5:) I've never had any problems with it, and I actually feel that the movement is more fluid and tends to give the routine a better rhythm than a piked kip. Congrats making your kip! Good Luck!
