So one of my proudest coaching moments came this summer, after I'd already retired from coaching. But first, a bit of backstory:

Years back, one of my boys team members took a real interest in the physics of gymnastics. It started off with just a few questions about my descriptions of how the mechanics of certain skills worked, grew into a general interest in the physics of the sport, then physics in general, and eventually grew to a point where we'd spend down time while stretching or waiting for his ride geeking out about the latest astronomy and physics news. At one point I loaned him The Pale Blue Dot by Carl Sagan, as well as a book on Einstein's theories, and he gobbled them right up.

Well, that kid graduated college this year, and is now officially a physicist.
