Does anyone have any experience with these?

Home

I'm wondering if they will help DD's Sever's. We have the Tulli's heel cups, and she has experienced mixed results.

I bought these for my daughter, but I think it was a waste of money. She never wears them bc they slip & drive her crazy.

Same here. I bought them. DD swore up and down she would use them. She didn't. When I bought them, she was at a Y gym with ancient folding mats that the parents set up and put away at each practice. Now she's at a private gym and every square inch of the place is squishy. I have a hard time imagining that the extra little big of squishiness she would get from the socks would make any difference.

Severs sucks. I'm really sorry. I did buy my daughter that supplement, Oscon (I think), that others on this site recommended. Her severs did clear up while she was taking the Oscon, but it also coincided with an injury and an illness that reduced her gym activity over a several-week period, so it's really hard to say if it was the supplement or if it was just the taking it easy that did the trick. She hasn't complained of it in a couple of months, but she's not done growing yet, so I doubt we have seen the end of it.

ugh, ok, thanks . We are on our second bottle of Oscon. In the three months or so since her diagnosis, she has had a couple of days here and there, up to 1 week at a time, where she hasn't complained, but the pain always seems to come back.

it will continue to come and go until the growth plates close in her ankles, feet and heels.:)

yes, so I've read. It is hard because we haven't had any lengthy break yet since she acquired it, and I keep reading about kids who have it, then have breaks of six months or more...we just need a break!!!

Oh, yes... that would be a drag. At least DD's seems to come and go, so even when it's acting up, she knows that it won't be around forever. :(

My DD's is quite unpredictable. She had a week with no reported pain recently, which was the longest time she's experienced no pain. Then, last night, she said it hurt to bounce on the trampoline and even just walk after doing her floor routine. But when I picked her up, she was on beam and seemed to be doing ok. It is very frustrating.

I guess I'm not the norm, but I love my sole impact socks! They can be a little slippery and move around on my feet but they absorb so much impact and I love them! They saved my feet when learning tucks on beam, vaulting, and doing simple tumbling. I agree with everyone else though, they probably won't help severs.

gym shoes, as in sneakers?

no not sneakers haha they are these slip on shoes that gymnastics companies make (i think gk might sell them) they are kinda like ballet shoe type things but they cover the whole foot not just the toe and have some grip on the bottom

They used to be called shock sox, it looks like they have renamed them. I looked at getting them for my DD, but she now wears gym shoes. Does your DD have any prescribed exercises from the physio or sports specialist? e.g. calf stretches.

I think they have a bit of padding in the heels, i'm not sure as i've never had severs but it's just what happens in our gym

thanks...yes, stretches, ice, etc..we do it all. Of course she has a competition this weekend and it was really bad today :(

Does the stretching, icing etc. seem to help? Have you tried taping the arch for support? My daughter is just starting to have pain in one heel and we are trying to be proactive. Not sure if it will help but would love your thoughts on what works and doesn't.
