Birthdays - The breakdown will always differ based on the actual gymnasts at the meet. Sometimes my daughter is in the same division as another teammate and sometimes they aren't. There's an 8.5-month difference between them.
For the longest time, my daughter was against drinking milk—neither her dad nor I drink milk. I personally never liked the taste of it. So she would drink soy milk (unsweetened or chocolate) or even Ripple milk. Now, she prefers whole milk, so I purchase it specially for her. I share this...
Every now and then, I like to check in on where my daughter is at with her nutrition for the day(s) or even the week. She's 10/trains 11.5 hrs plus dances and does other sports when not in the competition season. At first, I was a bit stressed, but when I saw how her days played out, I realized...
In all sports, things happen out of our control. It sounds like the issue was resolved, even if there was a moment of panic for you (and your child). I'm sure you can email USAG to find the exact protocols, but I also believe this situation will not likely happen again.
As a mother of a child...
You've received great advice here. The situation sounds stressful, but as a parent, we must protect our children first. If I recall, you mentioned you are in a big city, so there are likely plenty of other gyms around! Find a fresh start and let your daughter shine.
My daughter is in her first year of Xcel Gold and hoped to add an illusion to her floor routine this season. She loves how it feels and looks, so it was more of a personality element. She just found out tonight that it's supposedly not allowed. Can anyone confirm? Thanks!
Our bronze/silvers do 2days X 3.5hrs but silvers now have the option for 3days X 3.5hrs. This years silvers are foregoing that optional day.
Our gold/plats do 3days X 3.5hrs. My daughter is a new gold and was allowed to continue her second sport so she's been training 2 X 3.5 but with an...
Not every gym will provide the same transparency as others nor do a lot like breaking down the numbers in my experience. Some gyms make money off their coach fees, and some only expense actual costs broken down per gymnast after the meets.
For 7 hrs/wk it's 600$ and for 10.5 hrs/wk it's 800$...
Our gym has bronze at 7hrs/2 days, silvers at 7hrs/2days (optional 10.5hrs/3 days), gold and plat 10.5hrs/3 days for the school year. Our summer changes slightly by choice and bronze/silvers must train 2 days minimum with the option of increasing to 4 days (14hrs). The gold/plat are expected to...
We were not given a choice as our gym changed during 2020 to only offering Xcel. Our gym goes up to Xcel Platinum and tends to push each level from bronze and up.
For us, it means 7 hours as silver (optional 10.5 for silver) but it allows my daughter to give 100% at her practices. Plus she...
