    Parents Favorite meet gift?

This year, we got a water bottle, which my daughter loved. Another favorite meet gift was a beach towel. Those are the two that stand out and are seemingly practical.

Coaches Injuries in practice - how do you handle?

As a parent, I'm curious to know from the coaches here - if a gymnast is injured in practice, do you as a coach do any follow-up afterward or do you let the family come to you with updates?

    Coaches Games at practice

I've seen end of practice handstand competitions where the winner calls the style of handstand to be completed next round. It's a huge boost to the end of practice between levels. I've also seen a graduation game where girls are given a particular skill on beam and they must do it on all of...

    Parents Most Common Gymnastics Injuries

Our response to this is once (she's Xcel Gold), and it happened while playing soccer. She had a pretty severe bone bruise that took a lot of time to heal. I believe her gymnastics training helped it from being a break.

My daughter's lowest score in her three years of gymnastics was this season as XG, an 8.525 on vault at her first meet.

    Women xcel to compulsory

My daughter is in the same boat in terms of level, age, and skills. Fortunately for us, she does not desire college. If she did, I would certainly be pushing the move ASAP. We had two teammates leave last year before Gold (a bit older at 11) who left their familiar teammates to pursue their...

    Parents Team Size?

We are currently at an XCEL-only gym, and the numbers are small. Total from bronze-platinum is 17 gymnasts. We stay because my daughter enjoys the atmosphere, coaches, and the training hours (and can still enjoy other interests). Plus we tend to push the skills for the level (like backhandspring...

Off Topic Introductions Thread (2025 Version)

I was a lurker for a long time before I finally joined in on the fun. This forum has helped me maintain a level head about the sport's progression! I have been a lifelong lover of the sport. My daughter is currently competing in Xcel Gold and having fun! I check in with her to discuss her...

    Women Divisions

Birthdays - The breakdown will always differ based on the actual gymnasts at the meet. Sometimes my daughter is in the same division as another teammate and sometimes they aren't. There's an 8.5-month difference between them.

Parents Picky Eaters & Milk Drinkers Vs. Muscle Mass

For the longest time, my daughter was against drinking milk—neither her dad nor I drink milk. I personally never liked the taste of it. So she would drink soy milk (unsweetened or chocolate) or even Ripple milk. Now, she prefers whole milk, so I purchase it specially for her. I share this...
