Thank you. It does not pertain to my child, which is why I asked if there are repercussions for the gym that could potentially impact my daughter. My daughter already mentioned it to the coach for the teammates being skipped, and she was told she was wrong by the coach.
Thank you! I was under the impression it was a must score out level as well, but the new head coach is saying otherwise to my daughter. I guess we will sit back and watch if there's any fallout.
I've read USAG policies, but I continue to hear different things. Can girls skip levels this upcoming 2025-2026 season, such as competing for bronze one season and then skipping to platinum the next? Or compete bronze one season, silver the next, and skip to platinum without scoring out at a...
I'm aware that there's a possibility of petitioning into DP L7 (from Xcel), but the child must be 12. Is it 12 years old when petitioning or 12 years old for the season? My daughter will be 11.5 next summer and her bday falls late Decemeber to turn 12. Thanks!
My daughter is in a similar position. She had it before silver, lost it before gold, ended up competing her front walkover in gold, and now has a coach emphasizing the back walkover, knowing that it is breaking her down. She's also working her bhs on beam, but the coach is essentially saying she...
Speaking from my 10-year-old daughter's perspective (she only knows Xcel), she prefers structure and being pushed. We are at a small gym with only Xcel, and she likes the close ties to the entire gym. She will likely need to leave after this year/season due to leveling out and will not even...
This year, we got a water bottle, which my daughter loved. Another favorite meet gift was a beach towel. Those are the two that stand out and are seemingly practical.
Kitty one is a stray we got as a kitten that is now 8!
Kitty two is a stray we got as a kitten that is now 7!
The dog is also a stray, who is now 14-15 years old and starting to show his age.
As a parent, I'm curious to know from the coaches here - if a gymnast is injured in practice, do you as a coach do any follow-up afterward or do you let the family come to you with updates?
I've seen end of practice handstand competitions where the winner calls the style of handstand to be completed next round. It's a huge boost to the end of practice between levels.
I've also seen a graduation game where girls are given a particular skill on beam and they must do it on all of...
Our response to this is once (she's Xcel Gold), and it happened while playing soccer. She had a pretty severe bone bruise that took a lot of time to heal. I believe her gymnastics training helped it from being a break.
