YAY!! I was disappointed when I didn't see his name when they first announced the world team....glad to hear they are taking him! I will admit: I have a "gym crush" on him....he's such a great gymnast, great role model...and a smile that can melt even the hardest critic (in my opinion). Go get...
Work on stretching your hip flexor muscles individually (not just in the splits). Another major thing: STRETCH BOTH WAYS! Just because you are trying to get your right splits doesn't mean ignore the left splits.
My DD had this same problem last year from a previous gym allowing "cheating...
HAHA!!! I didn't know you had my DD!!!!! She is 13 and absolutely HATES conditioning (to the point of tears many times).... For her (and probably most people) it's more of a mental thing than a physical thing. Therefore, her and I talk alot about mental toughness, and even got the 12 week...
My DD is 13, and picked her floor music for the first time this summer. We, also, ran into this situation, but I think she and her coach made an excellent choice. Her music is very dramatic (String Madness)...but it sounds more mature than others my DD liked, and she absolutely LOVES it! Plus...
I'm interested in this also: my DD is level 5/6 and years away from competing Yurchenko's, but they have started drills (along with more difficult tumbling)..she has been complaining more and more about her wrists hurting. We have gone to the chiropractor to have him adjust the bones in her...
I have read a couple of your replies, and it seems like your purpose in CB is to promote your DVD's and own business. Even in your profile, you make sure to give a link to your web page.
Enjoys this, guys....cause my DD is now 13, and this isn't a problem anymore! Don't get me wrong, she trains hard and isn't a couch potato, but she is definitely less "active" than when she was younger!
Maybe this is a silly question, but my DD has struggled horribly with getting her splits both ways (right/left), especially since going through a big growth spurt..... Her hip flexors are super tight. Has anyone used foam rollers in conjunction with stretching to help gain flexibility? Was it...
That's wonderful! Sounds like your DD and the other little girl learned a valuable lesson.....be upfront with others and listen to others when they are trying to be helpful! And I think we adults should take something out of this, too: talk things out, then LET IT GO AND BE FRIENDS! Kids are...
My oldest DD actually got heat exhaustion from being in a non air conditioned gym when she was 4 years old (body temp actually raised 3 degrees from the heat..)
Along with the other suggestions, I would add: soak 3-4 towels in water, and put in zip loc bags. Between rotations or on breaks, put...
Man, I really hope that's not true.....anxiety is awful to deal with and most likely will be a lifelong challenge for you. I believe your never too old to change.....that being said, this is something that you may need professional help getting a handle on; someone to help you learn strategies...
LOVE THIS IDEA! I will share this with my DD! She can get correct hand placement on a line in the floor..but once on the beam, not so much. Although its getting better, it's not improving fast enough!
This is a good point....I see this a lot in my job, as I work with special needs kids. Sometimes, kids just say things as a statement, with no intention to be hateful. And, if she is trying to be hateful, as a parent, remember, the little girl is SIX! She needs some teaching as to appropriate...
