Thanks for the reply! She came home from practice that night and happened to do a couple with the new grips. Guess you're right & she just needs to get used to them. :)
Hi! My DD got her kip in the Spring (used palm grips at the time). Her coach recommended that she get dowel grips so she started using those around the beginning of July, I think. She cannot seem to do her kip with them! She thought she "lost" it over the lil break they had because she's heard...
DD trains 4:30-7:30 in the evening and she doesn't get a break. They get water breaks real quick, that's all. I make sure she has a snack between school and the gym and she has dinner afterwards on those days.
My girly will be 13 next month & she is just under 5'1", I think. All legs! One of the taller gymnasts at her gym ..but shorter than her peers at school.
Well, coaches DO know best! But if it is going to continue to be a concern for you then maybe you could approach it by asking what she needs to be able to start training Silver. Not really come right out and ask about moving up. I have been in a position something like yours and I just trusted...
It seems to me that it would be a good idea to see if she can practice with the Silvers and maybe move up?

Our gym varies.
We had a team of first-year competing Bronzes that did 5 hrs.
Another small group of Bronzes & Silvers that did 6 hours with no option for more (my daughter would have chosen more).
Another (larger) group of Bronzes & Silvers that did 6-9 (9 mandatory for some, optional for...
Yes! Up from 1,200 last year. We're having to co-host it again to get it all done in 3 days by having sessions going on simultaneously in the building with 2 full sets of equipment.
Xcel sounds like a great option for your DD to grow, work on her flexibility and gain confidence. Here in VA, Xcel is VERY competitive and not a rec. team AT ALL. Not a waste of time in the least. If it is like that there, I'd say go for it.. But also don't be afraid to repeat Level 3. As I've...
Thank you!! I'm so grateful. My secret hope from the beginning is that they would atleast make one for each girl of their design so they can have one and sell the winner's or something. I don't know how feasible it is or what goes into fabric sales, production, etc. to make just one. I worked my...
