Hi does anyone have a recommendation for a sports psychologist who would be good with an 11 year old. WE are UK based so would need to be someone here or who can work at a time that would fit with our time zone. Ideally they would have some knowledge about ADHD too! Thanks in advance!
I LOVE this thread. The coaches have such great ideas that resonate with what I've observed with my 11 year old daughter. Any other tips from parents/ coaches so appreciated.
She definitely pulls out better performances at competitions... UNLESS... a couple of things go wrong, she gets...
this isn't on the topic you have raised but while i have an Aussie audience, can i ask something related? My daughter is a 11 and in a competitive squad in London. I'v e been pondering a move back home at some point in the next few years. I'm from near Byron Bay and there are no competitive...
how many house per week did they train over there? Nice to have tramp but so much to work on ! Sounds like an interesting experience. Did they let u watch. I bet they are amazing on beam
Just puttin in my two cents worth here... I dont know about the states but summer is hard in Europe as everywhere tends to close in August due to the heat. Not sure about Germany though. At New year we went to Turkey, the training was amazing!
yep, been to Sapphire and Saadi... was planning to check out Marriots but never quite made it... yet another club it's hard to get a reply out of. Yes it was a coach actually from Dolphina who told me she thought the Hertfordshire comp scene was superior.
may i ask where in the states you are and which gyms you have seen that you like? I'd love to bring my daughter over the train in one of the school holidays.
We were at Hospitalet. I wouldn’t hesitate to take my daughter to train there again, the only thing that was difficult for me is that you’re not allowed in the gym at all and because I wanted to see what was going on I had to stand outside on the street, peering through a window like a creep :)...
Actually, I went up to Sapphire earlier this year and watched a bit and talked to the coach and she told me they are more focused these days on the regional level. I’ve been in touch with all the gyms in Hertfordshire and have been told by a coach that actually the Hertford competitive scene is...
Oh and I also took my daugther to train last year (just once) at a gym in Australia0 Gold Coast Gymnastics. I'm Aussie but live in London. They were welcoming and nice big gym but I expect what others have said about the Australian scene may cause issues. The distance to everywhere else must...
My daughter is only 10 and we live in London but this summer I took her to Italy for a week to train in Civitaveccia and then to Barcelona. Both had good programs (Italians are super advanced on bar even at that age). Athletes are coming and going from all around Italy and the world to...
Thank you, this is really interesting. I'm not closed to any options but definitely the appetite issues worry me; my daughter is very slim and its already hard to get enough calories into her! My nephew has ADHD and he tried meds and hated them; said they made him feel awful so i guess it...
Wow. Thank you, these are really interesting replies. We have an assessment coming up very soon. Obviously the medication route isn’t appealing but my daughter is also struggling with tests at school. She takes hours to get through tests others finish in an hour and it causes her anxiety. How do...
